Her

She consumes me,
Endless, she stretches across the horizon,
They once believed that we were as far west as you could go
before you fell of the edge of the world.
I see it now, that belief
as the golden coin drops into her blue jeans.

The wind caresses my cheek reminding me that I am above her
No longer part of her world,
she hides her secrets from me, I have left
I am no longer part of her.

She welcomes me back
Her embrace cool
I am scared, today she is a harsh mistress.
Her white horses chase me but I ride them to safety.
I cannot leave, I turn to her, I cannot be ruled by fear,
I cannot give her up,
She consumes me.
