Title: His Price

April 25th,2012

" Come on Gina! You have to come for this party and mingle."
"Mingle? Ace, I'm a busy woman and a mother top it."
"That's just it. Ever since you had Raymond your social life shut down."
Stacy couldn't help but breath out frustrated. She just couldn't let her friend go down the drain all because of some crazy dude who had once waltzed her life. Gina just didn't understand.
"Sweetie, I wouldn't hold that against you because you had so much luck in life. You can't understand me." Gina replied feeling stung by Stacy's earlier comment.
"I'm sorry bae but you're young and beautiful and you've your whole life ahead of you but instead of rejoicing in your youth, you dedicate your whole life to just being Ray's Mum."
"Stacy I love my son and  i'm the only parent he has, he deserves all the love from me"
"There you go again with all those sentimental speeches of guilt."
"Can't you see? You need a man in your life and also in Ray's"
" yeah you are right. But Ray already got my Dad. And my mum, God bless her soul was very helpful when she was alive."
Stacy nodded awaiting her further excuse while Gina shook her head negatively.
" I don't need a man in my life. Besides I've got Ray and he's the toughest guy in the century"
Just then Ray walked into the garden to greet his mum.
"Hi mum...I mean Good afternoon mum, aunt Stacy"
"Hello Raymond, how was school?" Regina inquired as she fondly hugged him. He was so cute and healthy,a times she couldn't help but wonder how she raised him alone.
"If was great mum. I got selected for the basketball team."
"Wow! I said it. My son is the toughest guy Ace."
Stacy couldn't help but smack her lips in frustration
"Okay. Please toughest guy can you tell your mum to attend my party?"
"Mum you should go. Apart from our Saturday outings and work you don't get to go out anymore."
Regina felt awkward hearing her pathetic state from her son
"Okay okay I'll go. But I'm not mingling Stacy.'
"What's mingling mum?" Ray asked rather inquisitively. Sometimes he acted older than his age. Or maybe the truth was her baby was growing up.
"None of your business tough Guy, now go to the kitchen, your lunch is on the table"
"Thanks mum"
"Alright sweetheart"
