Chapter 19: Graduation

5 months later:

Laura's POV:

I still missed Lucy. We had talked a lot but it wasn't the same as seeing her for real. All of us missed her.
It had been worst the first week but now it was ok, it was actually good. I mean, it was 5 months ago.

Next week I would graduate. I was so exited.
I would start college in August. It would be awesome. There was only one problem. The college was in Florida.
I hadn't told Ross. I didn't know how to.

I sat by the kitchen table doing my homework when Ross came. He didn't even knock on the door. He didn't have too, he was here so often that he didn't have to knock.

He sat down next to me and read something in my science book.
"I don't understand anything." he said.
"Really?" I said and giggled.
"Well, I mean, I understand the most of it but not so much."

I kissed him on the cheek and continued with my homework.
After like half an hour he sighed.

"What?" I said.
"Aren't you finished soon." he said.
"Are you bored?"
I kissed him on the cheek.
"A little, can't we do something else? I mean, we don't have a lot of time."
"Um, sure, I'll finish this later. What do you want to do?"
"I don't know. We can go to the beach or something maybe, but only if you want to. I want to do something that you like. I mean, if you don't want to we can do something else..."
"That's perfect!" I cut him off.
He smiled.

I thought he'd say that he would go get his stuff but he just sat there.

"Is everything alright?" I said.
"Um... yes. Why wouldn't it be?" he said and looked away.
"I don't know. You seem so tense."
"Um, well everything's alright."

He still didn't do anything but sit there.
"Shouldn't you go get your stuff?" I said after a few minutes.
"Oh, yes."

He stood up and so did I.
"You know you can tell me if something's wrong." I said and hugged him.
"I know." he said and relaxed a little but didn't say anything more.

I hugged him again and he kissed me in the forehead.

"See ya in like 15 minutes then." he said and left.
I walked up to my room and got my stuff.
What was it with Ross? He was definitely not alright as he said, that was pretty obvious.
I knew I would find out sooner or later. He told me everything and he would tell me what was wrong.

When I had packed all my stuff I got out and waited for Ross.
After a few minutes he picked me up and drove to the beach.

We had a great time. Ross was relaxed but it felt like he really cared for me, more than usual. He was protective and stayed close to me all day.
I didn't understand why he was like this. what was wrong?
I didn't think about it so much tho, it wasn't so bad to have him close to me and always caring. But I had to figure out what was wrong.

"What's the clock?" Ross said as we walked at the waters edge.
"It's 6:14." I said and leant my head on his shoulder.
"Ok."

We walked for maybe half an hour more. The evening was really beautiful. The sky was orange and pink and it was calm. It felt like Ross and I were the only people in the world.

"I wish we could stay like this forever." he said as we walked back to the spot where we had our stuff.
"Yes, this is perfect." I said.

Suddenly he stopped and turned to me.
"I'll miss you very much." he said and I saw that he was trying not to cry.
"What?" I said.
I didn't understand. Why would he miss me? Where would I go?

He took a deep breath.
"You're going to college." he said almost sobbing.
"You know that?"
"Yes."
He was now crying, which made me cry. He hugged me tight and didn't let go for a few minutes.
When he pulled away he looked into my eyes and I could see that he was really sad.

"Please don't leave me." he almost whispered.
"I'm sorry, but I have to. It's a great school and I was really lucky that I got the opportunity to go there." I whispered back. "I don't want to leave you. But I have to."

He hugged me again.
We started packing our stuff and got to the car. He drove me home and I was just about to say goodbye when he said:
"Do you wanna come over to our house?"

It was the first thing he had said since we got inside the car.

"Sure. I'll just go leave my stuff." I said.

Two hours later:

Ross and I were sitting on the couch. The tv was on but no one was watching. Ross was on his phone and was nezzled up against his chest. I was really tired and fell asleep just to be woken up by the tv five minutes later.

Rydel and Ratliff came into the room and sat down on the couch next to us.
"Can I change?" Rydel said.
"What?" Ross and I said at the same time.
Rydel giggled.
"Are you watching this program or can i change?" she said.
"You can change." Ross said.

Ten minutes later Rydel was alseep. I felt more and more tired as the minutes past and eventually I fell asleep too.

Ross's POV:

I felt Laura getting heavier and saw that she was asleep. She was so cute laying there, sleeping peacefully and with her hair a little messed up. I kisssed her on the forehead and picked up my phone.

I went to Instagram and took a picture on her.
In the caption I wrote: The cutest girlfriend you could wish for! @lauramarano

I put my phone on the table and wrapped my arms around Laura. Soon I fell asleep.

''They are so cute!'' I heard Rydel say.
I opened my eyes and saw Rydel with her phone.
Ratliff sat next to her with his phone.

''So you're finally awake.'' she said.
''Who are so cute?'' I said.
''You and Laura.''
''Oh, ok.''

I looked around and noticed that Laura wasn't there.
''Where's Laura?'' I said.
''She went to get her homework.'' Rydel said.
''Ok.''

I looked around again. Laura wasn't coming in to the room.
''Are you sure?'' I said.
Rydel looked up from her phone.

''Ross, is everything alright?''
''Yea, why wouldn't it be.''

Laura came into the room and I smiled at her. She smiled back.
''So you're awake now.'' she said and kissed me on the cheek.
''Yes.'' I said shortly.

Laura's POV:

We were sitting on the couch. The movie was about to end and almost everyone was asleep.

I looked at the clock, 10:37.
Ross kissed me on the forehead and closed his eyes. Then I remembered I had to ask him something.

''Ross, how did you know I was going to college in Florida?'' I said and Ross opened his eyes.
''Riker told me.'' he said and yawned.
"But how did he know?"
"Vanessa told him."

I wish Ross had been more awake so he would talk more. I thought for a moment.
"Well that makes sense." I said after a few minutes but Ross was already sleeping.

One week later:

Ross's POV:

"Congratulations Laura!" Vanessa and Rydel yelled.
Laura came and hugged everyone. She stopped at me.

"Congrats! I'm so proud of you!" I said and kissed her. When we pulled away she smiled at me and hugged me.
"If you're finished, we can take a group photo." Rocky said.
Laura giggled and hugged me again before we lined up infront of the camera.

We sat in the car on our way home. A party was waiting for us, it was a surprise for Laura.
"I can't believe I've graduated!" Laura said.
"Well you have, and now we only have the summer left." I said and looked into her eyes.
"Ross, don't make me cry!" 
"Sorry."
I kissed her on the cheek and smiled.
"We're here!" Ryland said excitedly.

We got out of the car and where half way through the house when i put my hands over Laura's eyes.
"Ross!" she squeaked.
"We've got a surprise for you." I said and giggled.

We got outside and I moved away my hands from her eyes.
"Congratulations Laura!" everybody yelled.
Laura looked surprised at me. I smiled at her.

She hugged everybody and thanked them for coming. Then she returned to me.
"Now let's get some cake!" I said and dragged her with me.
