CHAPTER 6

"Here?" Roman asks in confusion.

"Um... yeah, we're going to traipse; that's the only path. It's in the midpoint of the woods" I say as I avert looking him in the eyes. I start walking ahead of him getting more and more restless at the thought of seeing my dad again.

"Are you sure it's the right idea for you to walk? Do you want me to carry you?" I look up at him to see pure concern in his eyes making me want to jump in his arms and let him hold me and comfort me for as long as eternity can offer, but I stop myself. God these stupid annoying hormones!

"I can manage" I try my best not to be harsh. Throughout our 45 minutes walk to the house I stay wordless.

I make the last turn and breathe a sigh of relief when I see the house I was raised in. I can feel my eyes light up at the sight of my childhood's palace. I spontaneously start to head towards my long lost tranquillity until eventually I reach the front door.

I take a deep breath and knock on the door even though I know my dad always keeps it unlocked. For a nameless reason, I wait a couple of seconds. I suppose I just don't wish to see my dad is hurt in there; that is if he is inside in the first place.

Anxiety commences to consume me when I don't hear his heartbeat in the house. I crack the door open and go inside, which by the way every single impulse I have. Now that I think about it, I feel like an imbecile for waiting or even knocking. After all, this is my home.

"Would you please shut the door?" I gaze at Roman who is finding an eccentric interest in the floor. A smile conquers my face as I digest the fact that he is giving me some space; in light of the fact that I've been longing for this moment for quite a while. "Dad, Are you here?" I wonder as I look around.

I turn to the right and check the kitchen. A small giggle slips from my mouth when I retrospect the few times that I started a food fight with him in here just to get on his nerves.

I cross the hall to the opposite side where the main area is. "Dad" I gape at the couch but he's nowhere to be found; he's not lying on the couch like he usually does at this time of the day.

I yelp when I hear thud coming from upstairs. I run to the bottom of the stairs only to find my daddy dearest running down. "Thank the goddess I thought I was imagining." He stands right beside me holding my face in his hands. "You had me worried sick kiddo. I had the worst scenarios running through my head about what could've happened to you." He crushes me through his tight hug; not that I mind since I hug him back just as tight.

"I'm your daughter. You should have more faith in me."I tease him; trying to ease his nerves. "Don't worry, I'm perfectly fine."I pull him into yet another hug. Only this time he freezes.

I pull away when I hear his loud growl. I look at him confused by his odd behaviour. That's weird! I have never saw dad this angry!

Well then, perhaps this is the right time for me to remind you that our mate is in the room.
