We finally landed a few hours later, I guess Rick was right. Man was it cold, literally, freezing. There was even snow on the ground already and its wasn't half way thru October yet. Where ever they took me was insane and very foreign. Apparently the humans and I were the only ones shivering too, which didn't help the scenario any.
We exited the airport and there was a car waiting for us with a driver. He was dressed in a fancy suit and seemed unfazed by the cold. Luckily the wind wasn't blowing very hard or I would've been a popsicle. He grabbed the bags and loaded them faster than anyone I've ever seen then opened the doors. No steam came out of the car so I assumed the heat wasn't on, which is cool...I guess, then he looked back at us, or rather me.
"Five, sir?" He asked not looking away from me, "That is a difficult fit."
"I expected the other car since we were told to bring her." Mateo responded.
"Where will she sit?" as soon as the man asked I felt someone draw closer to me. I can't say I was opposed, the warmth was divine.
"She'll sit up front. We can take the back." Rick and Eli filed in the back and Travis followed, I soon became cold again, but I made my way to the front seat where Mateo held the door for me. His hand gently grabbed my upper arm and I turned towards him.
"If you get cold say so. We won't be offended." His eyes were sincere.
"What would make you think I was cold?" I played it off as though I wasn't...I mean I shouldn't be, I'm half werewolf!
"Just a feeling." He let go of my arm and I realized that just from his touch my entire body had gotten warm. We finally were all in the car and we drive off.
I fixated my attention outside the window, watching the scenes go by. They were pretty. But despite the distraction, I was getting cold. I tried to focus on the warmth where Mateo's hand had been but I couldn't seem to keep it. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the driver, while watching the road, was also watching me. As if he were studying me.
We finally arrived at a big mansion looking building, that I assumed was the alpha's home. When I went to get out of the car, I found that my butt had gone numb and my legs had started to as well. At least you can't tell if your cold, I told myself.
"Alpha has been expecting you." Came the man at the door. Well on closer look he still looked like a kid. No more than 16 or so and kinda cute. Are all werewolves gifted with great looks?
We came into a great room, not like huge but about as big as a dinning room fit for 20. There were three people sitting on the opposite side of the table.
"Mateo, good to see all of you back in one piece. We heard of the vampire scare." He sat next to the guy in the center and seemed kind of rough and mean.
"It was a bit more than a scare but we had no fear of getting hurt."
"It's unwise to be reckless. You know that." After my eyes had finally focused, I realized it was a girl. She seemed nice but also looked like she had been worrying.
"He knows. But that's not why he did it." The man in the center spoke. I had been scanning the room and never noticed he had his eyes locked on me. It cause me to feel uncomfortable, but a part of me felt compelled to challenge him.
"This is the girl. You asked us to bring her with us. Why?" Mateo asked, Rick, Eli, and Travis all seemed to respectful to speak.
"She is someone special. I can assume that you knew why we were told to protect her, so is it not obvious?" The mean guy said.
"Come Daxus, she has a name." The woman turned to look at me, her eyes widened quickly before returning to normal, "You may think us rude and I apologize for that. My name is Laura, that is Daxus, and this is my husband, Clay."
