Season 03, Episode 06 | The Thailand Adventure Begins Pt. III

|Kourtney's POV:

I woke up to the soft weight of Mason snuggled next to me, his little body warm against mine. The bed felt too soft, the room too quiet, and I knew immediately that something wasn't right. I felt drained—tired in a way that went beyond just needing sleep. My body ached, and a familiar tightness had settled in my stomach.

Mason, ever so sensitive to my moods, didn't move. Normally, he'd be bouncing out of bed, ready for his day, but today he just stayed beside me, sensing that I wasn't quite myself. I appreciated his quiet understanding, even though I could tell he was starting to get a little worried.

"Are you okay, Mommy?" he whispered, his voice barely above a breath.

I smiled softly, but the smile felt more like a mask than anything else. "I'm just a little tired, sweetie. You don't have to worry."

As soon as the words left my mouth, Dwayne appeared in the doorway, his concerned gaze falling on me as he walked in.

"Whoa, are you feeling okay?" he asked, his voice full of concern.

I didn't even have the strength to nod. Instead, I shook my head slightly, unable to hide the fatigue that was wearing me down. I could tell Dwayne was trying to read me—he always could.

Without saying a word, Mason got up from my side and trotted out of the room. I heard Dwayne whisper something to him, but I couldn't quite make it out. He didn't come back, and I assumed Dwayne had sent him off to do something else.

"Stay here. I'm going to make you a hot bath," Dwayne said, his tone gentle yet firm, as if taking care of me was his sole purpose in life.

I nodded, grateful, but all I really wanted to do was fall back into the warmth of the bed and disappear for a while. But I knew he was right; the hot bath would probably help, even if I didn't feel like moving a muscle.

A few minutes later, Dwayne reappeared at the doorway, a comforting warmth to his expression. He didn't ask me to get up; he simply helped me out of bed and guided me into the bathroom. The bath was already drawn, steam swirling up from the water, the scent of lavender filling the room.

As I lowered myself into the tub, I let out a slow breath, feeling the tension in my body slowly start to loosen. Dwayne slipped in behind me, his strong arms wrapping around me, pulling me close. The warmth of the water, combined with his closeness, made everything feel a little more bearable.

"You could be pregnant," he said, his voice low, almost like a whisper. "You were like this when you were pregnant with Mason."

I paused, my head resting against his chest, trying to process what he said. His words felt like a sudden shock, even though I had wondered about it myself. The dizziness, the nausea, the fatigue—it all seemed so familiar.

"I was, wasn't I?" I asked, almost as if I needed confirmation.

"Yeah, you were," Dwayne replied, rubbing my arms in slow, comforting circles. "I heard you last night in the bathroom, throwing up."

I felt a blush creep up my cheeks, even though there was no one else around to witness it. "I didn't want to wake you up. You had such a long day."

"You should have woken me," he said firmly. "You shouldn't have to go through this alone."

I didn't argue with him. The truth was, I didn't want to go through it alone either. I just wasn't sure if I was ready to admit that I might be pregnant again. The thought of it felt exciting and overwhelming all at once.
