This is a bit short but this book is like a mini book of the series anyways. enjoy.

Sam was delirious and not in a good way. He could still feel the weight of the silver chains binding his hand legs and could smell the damp stench of blood in the dungeons where they couldn't get the smell of blood off after Julian ripped the wolves beating Noah to shreds. Despite the silver and the fact that his wolf had retreated from the surface of his mind, he could still feel his wolf's anger at the man who was responsible for this and for the injury on his mate. The most disconcerting, especially to sensitive animal such as himself, was the lack of sound or light. The only thing keeping him sane was his anger and the fact that he could feel the ground he was sprawled out on, if not, the lack of sensory stimulation would have driven him to madness.

He didn't know how long he'd been in the dungeon; all he knew was that it had been a while. He could tell though, that Nicholas was still either asleep or knocked out by Mandy's medicines. Even though he was happy to have found his mate, he couldn't help but feel bitter seeing as this wasn't the way he had been dreaming it would be like. Well it was on the emotional aspect, wanting to keep him safe, happy, the constant bubble of joy anytime he thought about him and the nearly constant hard on he'd been sporting since he first caught his scent in the woods. However, he couldn't help but wish that he situation had been different, he wished that they were both just two ordinary wolves that could have gotten to know each other and fallen for each other at their own pace, instead Nicholas was constantly running away from him and now he knew why.

He swallowed loudly in an attempt to put some sound in the awfully quiet room as well as wet is really dry throat. He swore in the back of his mind that if he got his hands on that fat man, he would rip to tiny billion pieces.

The tiny hairs at the nape of his head stood on end and he got the sense that something was wrong. He tried to struggle some more as the need to be above ground and by his unconscious mate, protecting him threatened to swallow him whole. Through the haze that was mind, the heard a scream rip though the air and only a tiny part of his brain registered that he was the one screaming his lungs out. When the sound died down, there was nothing he could do but lay there and listen to nothing. The sound of his breathing was way too shallow for him to hear and he could swear he was dying.

He stirred when he heard the doors to the dungeon swing open. The scent was too far away for him to register so he tensed ready to attack with the last shred of strength he had. A small ray of light permeated the darkness he was lying in and it took him a while to register that it was a torch. By now, they were close enough for him to register that they were the Moonblood pack members but he still didn't relax. For all he knew they were here to kill him and steal his mate. He could tell that there were two of them and the one that was coming towards him had his hands in the air and he could tell that he was wearing thick gloves.

"You're the beta of the Midnight Pack right? Don't worry we're here to get you out" Sam was barely listening as he watched the man like a hawk as he advanced and reached to the chain wrapped around him. "I know you're gonna be weak for a bit but we've got some medicine from Mandy for you. Should get you on your feet in no time". He relaxed some when he heard that they were sent by Mandy. What he wanted to ask though was what was going on that the hairs on his body standing on end. And as if they knew what he wanted, they continued to speak as they started to unlock the locks holding the chains in place.

"Our old alpha has turned up with some rouges and attacked us. Our warriors are trying to fight them off, but wolves that the Alpha king brought seem to be helping them out, so everyone is being moved to a safe place in the forest while your alpha contacts crescent moon" Sam was busy contemplating what was being said when he heard the last lock give way. He relaxed as his body started to fight off the effect of the silver very quickly. He looked up when a small brown bottle was put in his face. "The medicine, Mandy said to give you" he didn't even hesitate before taking it and downing it, it was saturated in Mandy's scent so he trusted it. He gave a sigh of relief as it took effect quickly, the last of the bleeding out of his system.

"My mate. The wolf Mandy is looking after. Where is he?" he asked as he finally straightened out, his tattered shirt falling off his body.

"He has been moved to the safe with the rest of the females and children. Mandy his with him" one of the two men answered as he started to make his way out of the dungeon. He could hear the sound of the fight on the surface and his wolf was practically vibrating in the back of his head for him to join in and protect is mate. Unable to hold back any longer, he practically burst into his wolf form when he reached the surface.

He tried to track the scent of his mate but the smell of blood and the bodies of the other wolves that were fighting were hiding the scent he wanted and they hadn't gotten around to finding the safe of the pack yet but he knew that it would be a bit away from the main pack area. After a few failed attempts of tracking his mate while fending off other attacking wolves, he raised his head and let out a powerful howl before joining in on the fight. Even though he was still worried about the whereabouts of his mate, he was slightly comforted by the fact that he wasn't alone and that Mandy was thee in case there was something wrong with him.
