Finally, my three hours of torture finished as we landed in the Nashville airport. I grabbed my luggage as it went by on the carousel, and sat down. I was tired, so I decided to take a nap. But just before I started dozing off, my phone started ringing. It was a 931 number, which was unknown to me, so I answered it.

"Hello?" I asked into the phone.

"Laremy? Laremy, is that you?" said the voice. It was a man's voice, so I assumed it was my dad.

"It's Lars, Laremy, is that you?" I asked.

"Yes, yes it is. Hey listen, we'll chat later, but right now, there's a surprise for you in the parking lot. There's directions to my house, along with a pizza if you're hungry." Said Laremy's voice.

"Thanks", I sighed. "I'll be over as soon as I can."

"Alright, see you soon. Bye" He said, and hung up.

I slipped my phone into my pocket and walked out into the parking lot. All I had to do was hit the beeper button on my keys in order to find it. The car was what I hoped it would be as I climbed into the front seat. The seats were leather, the tires had white walls. And there were a pair of fuzzy dice on the mirror. There was a pizza on the passenger seat, along with a piece of paper with directions on it. I started the car, and started toward his house.

When I arrived to what the directions lead to, I was amazed. His house was a penthouse at the top of a tower. I expected him to live on top of isolated mountain because we're in Tennessee. I expected him to be some back-woods hillbilly, but so far, I don't think he is.

"Ah, Mr. Thompson, your father is waiting" said a man in a suit as he approached my car. "Your father asked me to park your car for you."

"Thanks" I said, getting out of the car. I walked to the backseat to retrieve my luggage, but the man said he'd take care of it.

"His room house it the very top one, you'll need this card to get up there." He said, handing me the room key. I handed him the key to the car, and was off.

I walked into the lobby, which was beautiful. All the people there were dressed in elegant clothes. I felt a little under-dressed due to the fact that I was only wearing a jacket, gym shorts, a tee-shirt, and crocs. Everybody there smiled at me though as I passed by.

"Top floor, sir" said a bellhop as he passed by with a luggage cart. I went into the elevator and swiped the card. The doors shut and the elevator ascended to the top floor.

After a few moments, the elevator doors finally opened, revealing a hallway. The hallway was a long one and lead to a single door. The carpet on the floor looked the carpet from "The Shining".

I walked down the hall and toward the door. When I arrived at the door, I looked over my shoulder to see if there'd be two little girls, but as I assumed, there was no one in sight.

I took out my room key card and swiped to unlock the door. The doors opened, revealing a huge living room. It looked like one of the display rooms from IKEA. I stepped through the doorway, and looked at my surroundings. To my left was a curtained off room, and to my right, a door. I walked toward the door to my right, only before a voice caught me.

"No, he's not here yet. At least I don't think he is" said a voice from the curtained room. "Hold on, let me go check."

The curtain then swung open, revealing a man in sweatpants and a Tee-shirt.

"Are you the pizza delivery?" He said as he pulled out his wallet. "How much do I owe you?"

"Laremy?" I asked.

"Junior, is that you?" He said, running in to give me a hug. I didn't hug back though, because I haven't seen him in 16 years.

"Call me Lars" I said as we broke apart.

"Lars? Okay, 'Lars'" He said, scratching his short beard. "Listen, we've got a lot of catching up to do, and a lot of birthdays I've missed, so tomorrow, we'll catch up, but tonight, let me show you to your room" He finished, waving to a flight of stairs. I followed him up the stairs, and into my new room. It had a large bed, a flat screen TV, and a desk with a computer on it. I've never owned a computer before, but I was familiar with all of it due to school.

"Thanks for the car, and the pizza" I said as we went out the bedroom door.

"Hey, no problem, ki- Lars" he said. "Now let me show you round my humble abode."

We walked down the hall and down the stairs into the living room. There was no TV in here, but instead a fireplace. On the fireplace was pictures of people I didn't recognize. Amongst the photos, one of them stuck out. It was a picture of me and dad holding a Lego toy set we built when I was three. I was holding it proudly while I sat in dad's lap. I picked it up and brought it to Laremey.

"What's this?" I asked as I brought it to him.

"That's a picture of us, can't you tell?" He said, patting me on the shoulder.

"I know, but why do you have it? I thought you didn't want anything to do with me." I said, putting it down.

"Who told you that?" he asked, crossing his arms in the process. "Wait wait, let me guess your mom?"

"Yeah, she said you didn't want anything to do with me or Jakob. She said you just packed your bags and left all of a sudden." I said, trying not to cry.

"Well your mom lied. I found her cheating on me with my best friend. I'd just gotten home from work, you and Clare were at your aunt's house, so I guess your mom found it the perfect time. I heard a noise coming from the bedroom, so I went to investigate. I saw them, but they didn't notice me, so I threw him off of her and left. I was so angry, I didn't take any of my stuff or nothin'. What did she do with all of it? Do you know? Eh, it doesn't matter." He said. "It was all hard to take in. Part of me didn't want to believe, while the other part of me believed it." Why would mom lie to me? Why would he buy me a car and still have a picture of me on his mantle? So much was going through my head.

"Hey, it's alright, Lars, I know it's a lot to take in." he said, putting his hand on the back of his neck. He then changed the subject by saying "Let's continue this tour, shall we?"

"Nah, I'm tired" I lied. I faked a yawn, which I hoped sounded believable.

"Well, alright" he said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "You know where your room is."

I walked into my new room, and laid on the bed. I took out my phone and saw that I had twenty-six missed calls from mom. Oh boy I thought. Prepare for wrath. I dialed mom's number, and waited for an answer.
