a/n: sorry for the slow update and also this hasn't been proofread bc im very lazy so im sorry about that too. this ones kinda short and also boring but theres some information in it. i'll try and update again either tonight or tomorrow:) - I started wondering about her. Teresa. She's cool, smart, gorgeous. Everything. I think she's everything and I've only had one conversation with her.
"Thomas? You good?" Minho said as we walked. I nodded.
"You don't talk much, lad." Newt said. I nodded my head. He rolled his eyes.
"Well where you wanna look around, Thomas? We have stuff all over the place!" Minho said proudly. "We have a Taco Bell on campus, that's cool. We also have this one little place called Cafe 250 and, man, it's the best. One of our friends works there on weekends, and sometimes he'll give us free food, so we have to hit that up later this week, yeah?" I just nodded my head. He rolled his eyes. "You need to talk more. Really. Anyways, we have the gym over there, the arts hall down there..." He continued pointing out places and how to get there from other places while I listened patiently and payed attention. When he asked if there was anything I wanted to know about, I stepped in without hesitation.
"What's the Mountain View Welcome Rally?" I said, pausing to look him in the eye.
They both turned to each other and, at the same time, yelled, "Mountain View Rally!!" They turned back to me with grins on their face. Minho started laughing uncontrollably while Newt struggled to keep a straight face and explain it.
"Okay," he said. "it's basically this thing they do four times a year, once at the beginning of each term. Well, anyways, it's super hyped up and everyone's really excited for it. The first one of the year is the Welcome Rally, the one Wednesday. It'll be at some point around 4th period, if you noticed on your schedule, it was blank by that one. Well, you'll pick your elective there, and basically, there's a lot of yelling, and sometimes spray paint, and there's prizes and shoutouts and all the good stuff. They get better throughout the year, though, so look forward to that."
"Okay..." I said. "What do you think I should do? F-For my elective, y'know?"
"Well what do you like doing?" Minho asked.
"I don't..." I paused. "I don't know... Writing, I guess, maybe... Running? I like to run, I guess... Track and field or cross-country or whatever, then... Yeah, I like that idea. What do you think?" They looked at each other then back at me.
"Listen," Minho said. "It isn't easy being on the team. They only put whoever they think is best and the most fit to be the captain, and whoever that is has to be tough. Our coach, Mr. Richardson picks the captain at the start of each term. From what I hear, I'm most likely gonna be captain this time. Only second-years can be captains, but only Mr. Richardson can let people on the team. He's pretty strict with who he lets join, but maybe by next term when they let you decide if you wanna switch, he'll let you on. Most of the time when he turns you down one term one, he'll give you a shot at term two. At the Welcome Rally tomorrow, there'll be tables set up for each elective and you go and sign up, and Mr. Richardson--well, we normally call him Rich for short; he hates it; it's hilarious--anyways, he'll take a look at you and if he likes you, he'll ask for a callback later in the day for tryouts and then that's that. Around here, the team is our number one thing. Last year at competitions, we were undefeated. You're lucky if you get called back by Rich. So think about that when you go up there."
"Wow..." I said, taking it all in. Newt laughed.

"Having second thoughts about 'running,' now, Tommy?" He said with a smile.
"Oh, um, no..." I said. "It's just that Minho can talk, like, a lot."
