It's been a few weeks right after the confession happened. Meaning, it's also been a few weeks since Sooyoung had been constantly avoiding Sungjae's presence.

He sighed deeply, looking over to her direction. He had been alone for the weeks that she tried to avoid him. Everytime he comes close to her, she would apologize and make up an excuse in order to be alone.

She knew that he was literally staring back and forth at her direction, she just couldn't figure out how he would easily fall for her. As if he really fell for her. She couldn't come up with answers, as she clicked her tongue. He just couldn't simply fall for her that easy.

"Sooyoung." A hand grasped around her shoulder. She flinched at the sensation as she turned her head around, to find Seulgi behind her. "You surprise me."

Seulgi smiled in reply, taking the empty seat beside her. "Are you fine?" She kindly replied with a nod, "I am.", "You don't seem to be.", "I guess I'm just tired, that's all."

"But why aren't you and Sungjae together since last two weeks?" Sooyoung flinched at the sudden question, "We've already finished the thesis. Shouldn't that be enough-", "Have you fallen for him?"

She felt flustered at the question, involuntarily yanking her arm away as if she was in defense, "I am not!" Seulgi scoffed in reply, gently sitting back before tucking a few strands of hair on the back of Sooyoung's ear. "You're way different right after he came.", "Seulgi, you know that I'm confused of his personality, and it bothers me. I don't like him in a romantic way, I'm just concerned of his... well being." She mumbled, feeling the guilt inside her. "And what about him? Has he fallen for you?"

"I don't know."

She sighed in frustration, replacing her shoes with the slippers that's on her locker.

The rain had been constantly falling down for a few hours, and nothing seems to go right within the day she has. She let out a heave of sad sigh, "If only..." She was sitting at the front bench near the school's gate along with the roof in order to avoid her from being wet in the rain. "I won't be able to go home if I continue being like this." She mumbled standing, as she went to grab her bag.

She slowly walked into the pouring rain, but she was confused when no rain dropped to her body.

She glanced at the figure who has been holding an umbrella, and guess what? It was him.

It was Sungjae.

She flinched at the proximity among them, as he replied with a small smile, "Listen, I'm not initiating any intimate moves. I'm just concerned, the rain was heavy. It wasn't just a simple drop to let you off." Her eyes soften from his innocence.

Yes, he was once a thief who had the guts to break a single person's bones. But, who could've guessed that when someone had the urge to cling on his being, he'd turn into an innocent child who begs for attention? She felt guilty. She just couldn't leave someone like him, behind. But, she also couldn't let him fall for her even more, what can she do?

"Hey, don't overthink. I'm just planning to take you home safely. Don't be awkward with me." He muttered, as he took a step forward, "Are you going, or are you not?" There goes his smile, once again. She scoffed in reply, before taking the offer.

They both walked into silence, and all they could hear was raindrops constantly falling to the ground. She softly observed the way his body stiffens whenever she's close to him.
She sighed in frustration, before she felt an arm nudged to her, as if asking if she was fine. She look up into his pool of hazel brown eyes, as he spoke, "Are you still avoiding me?" She shook her head, "I didn't mean to. I just can't accept your confession..." She trailed off as he spoke, "I know. And also, I wanted to tell you that I'm trying my best to erase all of it." Her eyes widen from his sudden declaration,

"I'm just trying to bid you good bye. Tomorrow, I'll be going back to America."

Her throat dries at his words, she averted her eyes from him. As she slowly choked up, feeling a little lump on her throat. Was it the truth?

"I wanted to leave you without awkward feelings. You were the first person to be like this to me, and you would always be in my heart. You see, I wanted to thank the rain for giving this opportunity." He spoke with a little chuckle. "Are you really going back?" She involuntarily spoke those words, as he chuckled nodding, "Aren't you happy? It would be less trouble for you." Her eyes started to water, but she just ignored it, awkwardly nodding.

He offered her a big smile, "I have one last promise, though." She look up to his eyes once again, realizing they both stopped at the front of her house. He laughed, sighing heavily. "If we ever meet again, I promise that i'll be better." She bit her lips, seeing this soft side of him.

"I'll be better, but not for you. But, for myself. I won't be any better when it comes to you. You deserve the best... and I won't be one of the best. I wanted to thank you. Thank you for being the best thing I never had." He spoke, as he took her hand, leaving the umbrella within her hands. He slowly walked out, as the rain fell on his body, he bowed down politely, as she stared emptily at him.

"Thank you, and good bye." He smiled pathetically, turning around before leaving her frozen.

She stood frozen for a minute, watching him walk away from her. She wanted to run after him. She wanted to hug him and bid him good bye. She wanted to tell him that he was one of the great things that happened to her.

It's only a few months that they've been together. But, it felt like years for her.

She didn't love him, she knew that. But, that doesn't give the meaning that it won't grow on her.

She wanted to run after him, and tell him to wait.

But before she could,

He already disappeared.
