The rest of the day went smoothly for Isabel. During their tour of the school, Isabel and Rosa talked about all of the things they had made, and future ideas. They also talked about how they were so glad that they had already made a new friend on the first day! Thanks to Rosa, Isabel realized that this year might not be that bad.

Meanwhile, Elena was running through her schedule, meeting her teachers, getting syllabuses, and figuring out which ones she'll hate. But then, she met that teacher. "Now," she started. "You may think that it's only junior year that counts. Once you get accepted into a college, you're done. That is not true. Senior year is not the year you give up and don't give a crap." Naomi, across the room from Elena, turned to look at her friend, and Elena noticed she looked like she was about to burst out laughing. And she did. The entire class began to laugh with her. Naomi was practically red from laughing so hard. "D-did you just say, senior year...is the year we shouldn't give up?" She said, still partially laughing. "You know, I like you already Mrs. Ananione. You're so funny!" The teacher's expression was shocked. She didn't know what to do. And that made it all that funnier. Then, the bell rang, and all of the kids went over to Naomi, telling her she was "savage" and how that was the greatest thing they had ever seen. Once the crowd had died down, Elena approached Naomi. "And that is why you're my friend. That was awesome." She told her and smiled.

Her next class was chemistry. Elena hated chemistry last year. She wasn't very good at it. Sadly, Naomi wasn't in her class, but when she walked in, she smiled at who she saw there. Mateo. Mateo was always very good at chemistry, or mostly anything science. He was always the first to volunteer when doing an experiment, even though he was quite shy. He would be her secret weapon this year. If he knows what he's doing, maybe he could help her do just as well! She took a seat next to him and said hello. "Oh, hey Elena." He began. "I didn't know you were in AP chemistry." "Well, I am! I am honestly shocked I ended up with an A- in this class last year, but I'm betting it was all the extra credit I did that got me there." She said. Mateo still looked confused. "Isn't chemistry a- uh, weakness for you?" He asked. "Yeah," Elena smiled weakly. "But I'm going to try to do my best this year!" She added. "Okay, well if you're ever struggling, I'd be willing to help you." Mateo said. "Really? Oh thank you so much, I'm sure I'll be needing you by October." Elena admitted. "Well, I'm always here, just being a scientist and creating things." He said. That sentence jogged something in Elena's mind. "Hey, have you met my sister yet?" She asked him. "Yeah, when I went to your house with Naomi and Gabe, and for your sweet 16, and when I went to your house to study for finals. She seemed nice." Mateo told her. "Well, I think you should really get to know each other. Isabel loves science, and she loves to invent things." Elena responded. "Oh, I never knew that. Maybe I'll talk to her sometime!" He said, excited that he may have another friend who loved science as much as he did. "Great! I bet Isabel would love knowing an upperclassman that isn't me." She said and smiled. "I bet she would." Mateo said.

does anyone get why I'm making Mateo a chemistry wiz? No? okay.
(pssst it's because chemistry is kind of like the "magic" of real life!) well, here's another chapter that I promised! I've been getting such positive feedback on this and I'm so happy! I'm glad you all love this as much as I do! ❤️
