i

excitement boiled inside
me as i waited in this
long and continuous line
that seemed never ending.
but with patience, i will
endure the wait through the
best of my ability because
when i reach the end, i
will finally meet someone
who has been the biggest
inspiration to me.
i was at a book signing for
suga's (this was a pen
name he went by.
it was strange to me
at first but the name
eventually grew on me)
most recent novel release.
suga was an author i deeply
respected ever since i read
his debut novel,
tomorrow,
a couple years back.
i remember when i first
finished his book,
that i had cried
until my face was
ugly
and swollen
the next day.
weird isn't it?
his pen name is suga,
and yet his works are beyond
what you would call 'sweet'.
they were bitter.
every chapter,
every paragraph,
every word he's written has
touched and inspired me
to write my own novels
and to hope that one day
my works will be published
for the world to read and admire.
though i won't ever
be as good of a novelist as
him—
that i must admit,
because through
my novice mind as a writer,
suga incarnates
every image,
every aspiration within
the intricacy of his thoughts,
in the most beautiful
and complex ways possible
that we could only dream
to fully understand within
the confines
of our simplified minds.

suga is an enigma.
