Grades nine-twelve, gems are finally offered the chance to go out and meet other gems. They are made in their respective Kindergartens, where they are allowed one cycle (year) to adjust to their forms. From there, they go through the first eight grades of school together, never seeing another kind of gem. They are taught the basics of being a gem - examples being lessons on what their forms are, how those forms can be damaged, and the basic ropes of fusion. But at the end of eighth grade, one of each kind of gem is chosen to go to Gem Highschool. The choice is based off of their desire to go to the highschool as well as their excellence in class.
Only those who strive to be the most excellent they can be attend the integrated gem highschool.
