I watched as Jack Barakat's mom drove him to the hospital. I picked up his bag and slung it over my shoulder along with my own. I started to plod down the street thinking about what had happened. I couldn't lose Jack; he was my only friend around this place. I had only been here for about two weeks and he had already saved my ass three times.  I worried about him all the way home; i couldn't get my mind off losing someone that I was close to, again. Daniel had been too much to take in. I had gotten his sister's phone number but i got no answer on the first call so i decided not to try again. I went inside and my mom caught the black eye straight away. "Oh Alexander! What happened honey?" I shrugged and looked at the floor.

"I'm fine mom." I shushed her in a polite way.

"Are you sure?" she asked worriedly.  I nodded and she moved out of the way. "Go put some ice on it! It's swelling!" she called after me. After all it wasn't a lie that i was alright, it was Jack who had taken the fall. Literally. I walked into the kitchen and got some ice out of the freezer.  I placed it over my swollen eye and scuttled upstairs. I pulled off my tattered plaid trousers and red polo shirt. Wearing them to school seemed to be a mistake. That was my first mistake yet i still hadn't gotten some more. I dragged myself into the bathroom and tugged down my boxers and got into the shower. I let the hot water droplets run down my spine and slowly started to loosen up. My mind went blank as i stood there. Tomorrow was Saturday, it should be better right? </pre>
