[A/n: So I won't spoil anything for the actual book that's coming soon, anything in this One-shot book may not be true. If anything, I don't even know what I'm writin'. Just ideas that popped into my head. Have fun!!]

|Nightmares|

It was in the dead of the night.

No living soul should've been awake at the time, yet, the sound of soft footsteps, so light you can barely hear them, were making their way down the hallway. You had to have gotten used to hearing this footsteps... And Leon had trained his ear to hear such soft footsteps.

Leon would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, probably from a nightmare or from a small noise, but when he met that young woman, he didn't know his life had changed. He also wasn't expecting her to come into his room late at night. When she had first done that, She was quite hesitant, just peeking her head through the door, tightly gripping her little Teddy Bear that Leon had won for her as a gift.

Okay sure, she may be 20 something, but I'm pretty sure when you're suffering from PTSD you can use anything to keep you calm.

Now, the young woman we were talking about, cracks the door slowly and silently, causing the door to give out a protesting groan. A head with hair as white as snow with red tainting it's tips and a pair of blue miscolored eyes shortly coming after that, had peeked over the small opening.

Leon knew exactly who it was, and the young woman by the door also knew that he wasn't sleeping, even though he had his arm over his face and was kinda sprawled all over the bed. This had become routine for them, but the young woman couldn't help but be a little shy because of her choice of night garments. She always wore the same thing to bed, Leon did too, but even though she knew that Leon wouldn't touch her or anything without her permission, she couldn't help but feel under dressed near him.

Leon sighed heavily, "You can come in when you're ready.." He softly muttered, knowing that she wouldn't move otherwise.

Just like that, she hurried in and gently closed the bedroom door. Once that was done, she held the door for a second, staring at it in silence. Leon scooted to the side to make room for her, then moved his arm a bit from his face to peak at what she was doing and why she wasn't in the bed with him.

The young woman finally had let go of the door and rubbed her shoulders, still tightly gripping the white teddy bear. Slowly, she turned towards Leon and walked to the left side of the bed.

Leon, watching her the whole time, wondered what really bothered her so much that she was reluctant to get in the bed, pull the sheets over her head, and grip him tighter than she does with her loveable teddy bear. She eventually got under the sheets, but as soon as she did she didn't hold on to Leon like she normally does, she just turned around and went into a fetal position.

Leon, now genuinely concerned, removed his arm from his face and turned to face the woman's back. Gently, he placed his hand on her shoulder, to which she noticeably stiffened, and softly asked, "...What's wrong.. Ariel..?"

The woman, now known as Ariel, stiffened a bit more and turned her head slightly just enough to show Leon her icy blue eye, that made him shiver inside, and just stared for a moment... Then silently, and hesitantly, spoke..

"I miss my cat."

Leon stared at Ariel for a moment... Not really sure on what to do with that and he was trying to hold in his laughter. Ariel, on the other hand, fully turned over to Leon and had her little mischievous smile on with a couple of giggles to accompany it. Leon started to shake his head, but not without a smile on it. He should've known that Ariel would've responded with humor, she always did, just like himself, at the worst times..

After Ariel had gotten over her little giggles, she scooched closer and buried her head into Leon's soft, yet hard, chest. She started to grip his black tank top and held on to it like her life depended on it... then confessed,

"It happened again... And I still couldn't do anything.." Ariel began to whimper and shake, yet never shed any tears, she never did, just whimpered and shivered.

Leon started making calming noise, shushing ever so quietly, and held Ariel close. He never said anything, unless Ariel asked, he was just her silent supporter, her anchor. Even if he had or wanted to say something, he couldn't find the appropriate words to give Ariel true comfort. You could say any kind of soothing words to her, but you have to find the correct ones to really give her true peace.

So the next best thing was to hold her and Leon did exactly that, rocking her back to sleep and eventually himself...

Leon awoke to the smell of breakfast and the sounds of birds chirping and singing their happy little songs. He looked down to see, not Ariel, but a pillow with a sticky note that says "Insert Ariel Here" and "Went to make breakfast" on it. Leon leaned back, pulled off the sticky note, and brought the pillow to his face. Even though Ariel had barely touched the pillow, it still smelt like her hair, like a fresh bed of red roses.

Leon sat there, contemplating just laying there enjoying the calming scent and the little birdies song... But then the image of Ariel, fully clothed and armed with an air horn, barging into his room, putting said air horn next to his ear and blowing it.. Gave him enough motivation to get out of bed and head down to eat whatever Ariel had cooked for the day...
