Milo's Romance

Milo sat by himself for lunch that day. Melissa got lunch for forgetting her student ID….again, and Zack was at VGC. Milo sighed and stared down at his lunch box and instantly lost his appetite. He pushed his lunchbox away, causing it to fall to the ground. His banana fell out, and a boy with his lunch tray walked by and slipped on it, his empty tray clattering to the floor. Milo didn’t even bother to pick his lunchbox up. He laid his head down on the table and stared at the floor. A voice suddenly piped up beside him.

“Hey, Milo…”

He turned his head on the table slowly and was staring at a pair of green eyes. Megan had her face nearly an inch away from his.
“Heya, Milo.”

Milo yelped and snapped up straight, blushing from the closeness.

“M-M-Megan! Heh….h-hiya!”

Megan’s head stayed on the table.
“So….what happened earlier…? Why did you run away….? Did I say something?”

Milo hesitated, trying to find another excuse.
“N-no…..you didn’t say anything wrong….it’s just-”

“Hello, Megan.” A voice sounded behind them, and Milo looked up to see Bradley. Bradley noticed him and glared at him.
“Oh...hello…...Milo…..”
“Hi, Bradley!”
“Uh huh….so, Megan….” Bradley purred, sitting down next to her. “Do you happen to have any friends here yet?”

“Oh! Yes, Milo is one of the first!”

Bradley groaned and shot Milo an annoyed look. Milo just blinked.

“Well….do you have a boyfriend, yet, Megan?”
Megan gulped and glanced at Milo. But Milo was red faced with anger. He glared at Bradley.

“No, she doesn’t. And I am 100 percent sure she doesn’t want to go out with YOU, Bradley.”

Bradley stared at him, surprised at his anger. Milo usually never got mad.Then Bradley slowly smiled.
“Oh, so the jinx has a crush on Megan, eh?”

Megan’s head whirled around to stare at Milo.
“Milo! Is that true?!”

Milo’s anger turned to embarrassment, and he blushed crazily. “Uh...I…..M-Megan….I…..”
Bradley howled with laughter. He turned around to face the whole cafeteria. “Hey guys! Murphy has a crush on the new girl!”

Instantly, a large crowd of kids swarmed over the three. A few kids laughed, pointing at Milo.
“He has a crush on Megan!”
“I thought Milo would never like any girl!”
“Ew, do you think he wants to kiss her?”

More laughter erupted from that comment. Milo groaned, upset, and wrapped his arm over his head, resting his head back on the table, trying to ignore everything that was going on. He was red faced in embarrassment. Megan tried to keep calm, and she glanced at Milo. She thought she heard…...crying. She felt a warm rush of sympathy, then stood up on the table.

“Everyone, stop! Can’t you see you’re making Milo upset?!”

Everyone glanced at Milo, then, mumbling, the kids went back to lunch. Megan sat back down, sighing in relief, and glanced at Milo. He was trembling, and she heard soft sobbing come from him. She thought of what to do or what to say, then her mind raced back to what Bradley said.

Does Milo….have a crush on me…?

She gazed at Milo warmly, then gave him a hug. Milo instantly stopped crying and shaking. He lifted his head, blushing, tear stains on his cheeks, and relaxed, accepting the hug. But what Megan did next nearly gave him a heart attack.

She kissed him.
