I sat in the back of the armored police truck, Icicle Jr beside me. I've had a bit of a crush on the cryokinetic teen for quite some time now. I've just never had the guts to tell him how I feel. Which I will never understand since my dad, Heat Wave, is bolder than bold. The vehicle stopped for a bit and the two big doors at the back of the truck opened. The officers shoved in two people. Siblings from the looks of it. The Terror Twins. Damn, the brother is fine. Not as fine as Junior, but still. Glancing to my side as the twins sat across from us, I saw Junior making kissy faces at the female twin. Rolling my eyes, I watched as she looked away. I looked at the male twin in front of me and smirked as he glared at Icicle. Then, the idiotic ice boy beside me got up, leaned over , and whispered something to the male twin. I chuckled when he was shoved back into his seat by the officer who accompanied us. Junior just glared at me.

After the whole "Welcome to Belle Reve" thing, which was not fun by the way, we were herded to the cells. The female twin was shoved into a room that I saw had Killer Frost in it, and I was shoved into one that held Devastation. Great. Put me in a cell with the one who can kill me with a single punch. I am not kidding. This girl (if she can even be called one) has gone toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman and lived to tell the tale. Devastation was on the bottom bunk, which meant I was on the top. Man. I hated being on top. And for more than one reason.

Climbing up the ladder, I threw myself onto the bed and laid there, fiddling with the damned collar that blocked my powers. I am, in a strange way, a pyromaniac. It's kinda like with Junior and his dad. While my dad uses pyro-tech, basically, a flamethrower in gun form, I can create and control fire. A bell rang throughout the prison and our door opened. The guards made us get out of our room and marched us to the gym. After being there for an hour or so, which me and Killer Frost used to talk to the boys about the plan, we were herded to the mess hall. The one place they allowed the woman to mingle with the men.

After getting my food, which consisted of prison slop, I scanned the spacious room, looking for Junior. He was sitting with the male Terror Twin. I made my way over to where they were sitting, expertly navigating the many tables, inmates, and guards before plopping down beside I.J. He glanced my way before smirking.

"Take Phoenix over here," he said, pointing his fork at me. "She sees the psycho in everyone and'll appreciate them anyway." I glared at him.

"Be glad I got this collar on, Junior. Or else you'd be a crispy critter," I said. Stretching my hand across the table, I introduced myself to the Terror boy.

"Phoenix, daughter of Heat Wave," I said. He warily took my hand and shook it.

"Tommy Terror," he said, with an obvious country accent. "So, how'd you know Junior?" he questioned, tilting his head to the side.

"Known him since we was five," I drawled, only slightly mocking him. "Ever since I kicked his ass in a training exercise our dads forced us to do." Beside me, Junior gave a sound of disbelief.

"Yeah right. You mean when I kicked your ass," he said, poking me in the cheek with his food.

"You and I remember that day very differently, I.J.," I shot back.

After the attempt to break out of Belle Reve, the guards rounded up the inmates, gave those without them new collars, and put them back in their cells. Meanwhile, during the confusion, Junior and I carefully dodged everyone and snuck outside.

"Your dad is going to kill us when he finds out we got away and didn't help him," I warned Icicle. He turned towards me and broke off the collar that I still had on before he dropped his ice shield.

"You mean if he breaks out of Belle Reve first," he said smirking. I rubbed my neck.

"Thanks," I told him, looking away and trying not to blush.

"Come on, let's go," Junior said. Grabbing my arm, he tugged me through the undergrowth that was in the forest beside the prison. We hurried along, wanting to put a lot of distance between us and Belle Reve.

"So... what are we going to do now that we're out?" I inquired.

"We'll have to lay low," he told me, looking back to make sure we weren't being followed.

"We'll have to go by our civilian names, won't we?"

"Yeah, we will, Lily." I nodded.

"Okay Cam." He grabbed my hand and continued walking, with me following behind him.

"Let's find a way out of here so we can change out of these prison uniforms," he said.
