Peter's was born in Bathurst, Gambia (now Banjul). His parents were Lenrie Ernest Ingram Peter's and kezia rosemary .Lenrie Jr grew up Bathurst and move to Sierra Leone in 1959 ,where he was educated at the prince of Wale school, Freetown. He obtained his medical degree in 1959 in Cambridge university.
