003 : dead love letters

dear josh,

i remember the next time i saw you wasn't in that stupid, cliché coffee shop.

i didn't see you until it was too late. we walked right into each other. i remember swearing and cursing as my books fell to the floor and my papers scattered across the pavement, which luckily was dry from the hot summer's day we'd been graced with.

you apologised, your face filled with guilt. i remember forcing a smile, gritting my teeth and telling you that it was fine, but it really wasn't. all my papers were now unorganised and dusty.

when i'd finally collected all of them up, still mumbling horrific curses under my breath, i stood up, looked you right in the eye, and said, "thanks for your help."

and you looked at me gobsmacked because you knew you'd just stood there and watched me pick it all up by myself. you opened your mouth to apologise again, but i pushed past you and stormed down the street to where my car was parked just around the corner.

i remember hoping never to see you again, but now? oh god, the things i'd do to see you now, josh. i'll let you know one thing: they'd land me on death row.

love, julian
