Pure

Oh God of my idolatry,

Mask me through the night.

Oh Heaven far above me,

Open your doors to me tonight.

Oh angels sweetly so pure,

Cleanse me off my sins this night.

Oh bright stars sent from heaven,

Foreshadow a brilliance to my life.

Oh innocence sleeping in peace,

Protect my dreams and wishes in the dark.

Oh pale shadows looming the dead,

Haunt me no more, bless me instead.

Oh pureness in the skies,

Mark me as pure-  no longer a sinner.

This is about a person who has sinned so much in their life and wants forgiveness. Extended metaphors of light and purity are used to contrast the dark sinful life of this person; who wishes to forget what they have done.
