The Red Rose

"I'm going to go with Jason, I have to, he knows about us and that puts you in danger, and Jess, she doesn't need to be in the position she is in at the moment, its all my fault, I have to go with him"

Theres a silence for a moment after I speak, just a complete and utter silence. I stand there, staring at my shoes, way to afraid to look at Nick, I don't want to see his reaction.

After another few minutes of silence, I start to get worried, "hey Nic-" i start but was soon cut off by Nick pressing his lips to mine, I stay still in shock for a few seconds before kissing him back, wrapping my arms around his neck while he wraps his around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

The kiss is soft and sweet, almost like he is trying to reassure me. In a weird way it kinda did, I felt safe and secure in his arms, as if there was nothing wrong at all. He breaks away to soon, placing his forehead against mine.

I don't dare open my eyes just yet, I want to stay in that safe trance, not wanting reality to come crushing down on me just yet.

"Ash, open your eyes" says Nick, his hot breath fanning my face "please" I sigh, giving in and opening my eyes, staring into his gorgeous ones.

"its all going to be fine, we can find Jess but,-" he pauses, pulling me even closer to him "there is no way, I repeat, no way I'm letting you go with that psycho" my eyes flutter closed, blocking my tears from spilling.

I take a deep breath "Nick, I.... I have to go with him, I just cause pain and sadness where ever I go, Jess doesn't deserve this, shes missing because of me, if I were to just go she could live her life normally and freely. You could go back to your normal life too, I can't bear even the mear thought of something happening to either one of you" I've started to shed light tears by the end of my speech, my eyes are still shut, and I don't want to open them ever again.

"oy, look at me" he says softly but I still keep them shut "Ash please, just look at me" I finally open my eyes, looking into his again, only this time they don't sparkle like they used to, no, this time they are tear filled, and it breaks my heart "youre not going anywhere, ok? Nowhere. And you do not cause sadness where ever you go, you have done the exact opposite in fact. Before you came along, I was a mess, always getting into fights and never caring about anyone or anything, but then you came in to my life and turned my world upside down. Who would've guessed that the quite nerd would be the love of my life. You changed me for the better Ash, and I wouldn't be able to go on without you here, please don't go, I need you" Nick and I both let our tears flow freely down our cheeks now.

"I love you Nick" i said through tear brimmed eyes "I love you more" said Nick before pulling me into a more passion filled kiss.

After we had calmed down, Nick and I went downstairs again to come up with a plan on how to save Jess, neither of us caring about our homework anymore.

After an hour of siting and discussing all options, we still had no plan, but I wasnt going to give up.

"I'm gonna go make some coffee, want anything?" I asked Nick. Just as he was about to reply the door bell rang "I'll get it" i said, getting up off the couch.

I got to the door and opened it, only there was no one there, i was about to close it when a red rose with a note under it lying on the entrance mat caught my attention, I went cold, a red rose could only mean one thing...

I hesitantly picked up the rose and note and headed back inside, closing the door. I walked back into the lounge, staring at the note, holding it lightly with my fingers, as if its surface would burn me.

"Hey who was-" Nick stopped mid sentence upon seeing the rose. "what does it say?" he asked, getting up and walking over to me, I just shook my head and turned over the card, showing the still sealed back. Nick took the card out of my hand and slowly began to open it.

Once fully open he read out
'aahh, mi amour, I see you still want to play games, so be it.
You can't run from me forever you know, you will be mine soon and I will go through hell or high water to make sure of that.
Your friend will not die but that doesn't mean she won't suffer.
I see you still hang on to the famous Nick, oh how he'll suffer too, once I get my hands on him.
Ashley Ashley Ashley, such a pity, you value your own skin more than those who care for you, such a tragedy, I expected better of you.
Oohhh, this is going to be fun, enjoy the games

I just stood. Frozen in shock and terror. He's watching me!
I'm not safe and neither are Nick or Jess.

I need to get her out soon, I can't just let him hurt her and he mustn't get to Nick either!

What must I do? What can I do?

Thats when it came to me, my mater piece of a plan!

"Ash? Ash!?" I Was pulled out of my daze and planning by nick calling me and waving his hands in front of me

"uhhh, yeah I'm here" I said still not entirely there "its all going to be fine, I promise, he won't hurt Jess just yet, he is only trying to scare you into going back to him and he can't get to me, you're safe and we can get through this" he was now hugging me tightly, talking into my hair.

I gave a soft nod, not daring to speak, I knew my voice would crack and I need to stay strong in order for my plan to work.

"Come, lets go to bed and get some rest, tomorrow we can think of a way to fix this all, I promise" said Nick in a soft tone, giving me a small peck on the lips.

Once dressed and ready for bed I made my way out of my bathroom and to the bed where Nick was already half asleep.

I got under the covers and lay close to Nick, but not actually touching him.

After a few mintues passed I heard his breathing even out and he began to lightly snore. Time to put my plan into action.
