Closing Time

34 4 13

He drinks,
and drinks to numb the pain.
Pour another,
until there's nothing left to gain.
He fights,
so desperate to break the chain.
Nothing but chemicals,
in the brain.

She drinks,
and drinks to quiet the heart.
She tries to love,
but sadly was never taught the art.
Blame her father,
who never played the part.
She says 'it's a lonely world,
maybe it's time to depart.'

They drink,
and drink til closing time,
With nothing left,
spent every dime.
Don't think to much,
about committing the crime,
and now there's no meaning,
to this rhyme.
