Once again Luke was in a pressed suit. Sitting across from Michael in a restaurant the younger boy has never heard of. So far only a few words have been exchanged as they were both unaware on what to talk about. Michael was always known as being awkward, praying that this wouldn't turn into a huge mess where they would never speak again.
He glanced up from his menu to see Luke already watching him. Quickly looking back down at his menu he tried to ignore the mans stare.
What he didn't know was the Luke was staring at the bruises Michael had. He had a few on his neck and one was on his shoulder that Luke could faintly make out. Luke has seen and left plenty of marks to know that those weren't your usual 'love marks'.
Soon someone came and took their order, leaving the two in silence.
But Luke quickly changed that, "Is everything okay Michael?"
Michael quickly looked up to look him in the eyes, "Yea? Why wouldn't everything be okay?"
Luke shrugged and looked out the window. Michael looked to see if he was looking at anything in particular and the only thing he could make out was the tallest building in the city, belonging to the Hemmings.
Michael glanced at Luke, noticing his stare was still on the building. Michael was never good with small talk but tried his best attempt, "You know I'm so jealous of that family,"
Luke glanced at the small boy in front of him.
"What family?" He questions, having no idea what he would be talking about.
"The Hemmings," Michael states. Luke almost smiles as he hear Michael say his last name.
He looks back to the building that his family owns, well his building now, "Why are you jealous of them?"
Michael shrugged his shoulders, "I've always wished my family was close like theirs, they have their life figured out and I have no idea what I'm doing with mine,"
Luke took the information in and wanted to correct Michael right then and now but didn't.
Luke just nodded. Michael didn't know he was talking to the 'boss man' as many call him. It wasn't as if Luke was about to announce it either. He didn't know Michael enough and didn't want him to be with him because of his success. He didn't expect Michael to be like that but after being in the business for years you have to take precautions.
The waitress then came and sat their food in front of them. Luke went to dig in but watched as Michael just sat there.
"Are you okay?" Luke asked, worried for the boy.
Michael just nodded at his question, "Sorry, I just haven't ate somewhere so nice in so long,"
Luke nodded and smiled, "Well I'm glad I get to reunite you with the wonders of good food,"
As the rest of lunch passed, Luke could see how more Michael got relaxed by the second. Soon enough a beep was heard from Michaels phone. Stopping their conversation and laughs. Michaels smile disappeared as he read the text. Luke tried to make it seem as if he wasn't watching him but failed.
"Everything okay Michael?" Michael didn't respond right away as Luke always calls him babe.
Shaking his head he didn't speak a word. Smiling faintly he went back to eating. Something was clearly wrong but Luke was taught and even knew not to pressure people into anything. Michael and him were becoming friends, after all you had to start somewhere.
