Dear Kara
If this letter is delivered to you, I am no longer here to protect you and for that I am truly sorry. But in the state of things, I will not fool myself into thinking that I will remain in this world for very long but I wanted to let you know that even if I am not here to protect you, you are not alone. Your father will be notified upon my death and I do not doubt that he would care for you better than I ever could, but I realise that while you, no doubt, will be treated like a princess in his house. Your life will never be the same, and for that I am once again sorry. I have tried in my days to shield you from what is coming, but it seems that if this letter should ever be opened without my presence, I am no longer able to guard you and that pains me greater still. I realise that my words would confuse you, but it would not be wise for me to explain in a letter, so I have enclosed the address and phone number of your father and have entrusted him with the task of revealing what I have always tried to shield you from.
Look after yourself, Kara, and know that while I might not have showed it, I loved you more than life itself.
Love
Elizabeth Rebecca Taylor
