1. Survival

So small, yet we dream so big,

Reaching for dreams our tiny mouths can't yet form,

Captivated by a world so unknown,

Unaware of the heartaches our mothers didn't want shown,

So blinded that nothing else matter,

We couldn't believe it when some dreams were shattered,

Crushing the vulnerable hearts we wore on our sleeves,

Dreading time would drag on, couldn't wait for these feelings to leave,

We were suffocated and shaped by the pain,

Breaking us; forming us into something new,

Preparing us so we won't break down,

We'll see it all the way through,

Straightening our spines, cloaking our hearts,

So the next time, we're ready,

Balance and steady,

We'll thrive,

We will survive.
