Six years later...

Demi's POV
---
I woke up to the sunlight come in contact with my face; the warmth from it provided me peculiar comfort and I momentarily accepted it by closing my eyes and taking a deep breath.

Ready to face the day, I shoved the sheets from my body and turned to give Wilmer his morning kiss but only to discover he was nowhere to be found.

The smell of maple syrup clouded my senses and I dashed down the stairs to make it to the kitchen but missed the second last step, causing me to fall on the tiled floor, luckily missing my face by a mere inch.

"Oh my god Dems." I heard Wilmer's voice and shot my face up to see his shocked expression.

In a split second, his face loosened and began to laugh at my misfortune; I groaned and gripped the hand rails to support myself and stood up.

"That's not funny!" Luna shouted with her arms across her chest.

"It's alright Luna, you know I fall down a lot, it's nothing new" I gestured for my baby girl to come into my warm embrace. "As for you Daddy, you're not suppose to laugh." I pouted and gave Wilmer a peck on the cheek.

"What, no morning kiss?" Wilmer faked his disbelief.

"You weren't in bed!" I exclaimed.

"That's because..." Wilmer ran to the kitchen and brought back a plate of pancakes doused in maple syrup, "I made you breakfast." He grinned, exposing his perfect rows of teeth.

"I helped too!" Luna added.

"Of course baby girl." I tickled her, which caused her to squirm in various angles.

"Shall we dig in?" Wilmer questioned.

We made our way to the table and I lifted Luna onto her booster seat because she wasn't big enough to reach the cutlery without excessively stretching her arms.

"Here baby" I said as I pushed the chair closer to the table and cut a pancake in quarters for her.

" So I was thinking..." Wilmer announced, cutting the silence, too busy consuming our breakfast. "In two days it will be Luna's first day in first grade, we should probably buy her new clothes and school supplies."

"That's a great idea Wil, we can go after I wash the dishes."

When breakfast was finished, I cleared the plates and ran the tap to begin washing the dishes; I giggled, remembering the last time we went shopping together.

"What's so funny?" Wilmer asked, completely confused.

"I remembered last week when we went to buy groceries and I had to go to the bathroom, I took Luna with me and you thought you lost her!" Now I couldn't contain my laughter.

"Hey, in my defence, I was looking out for our kid" Wilmer's hands shot up in surrender.

I gaped, "and I don't?"

"I didn't mean it like that babe." He sighed and wrapped his hands around my waist.

"I know, I'd never let her out of my sight." I kissed Wilmer and placed the dishes on the drying rack and dried my hands.

Wilmer drove us to Beverly Centre and several photographers got too close to Luna and I, which caused him to ask them to step back.

Luna dashed into almost every store; we bought her two new bags, a huge set of colouring pencils and several writing books.

We were about to enter Bardot Junior when Luna suddenly pulled the cart in her direction towards Burberry. She ran towards a light pink coloured cashmere coat, grinned and jumped up and down vigourously. I smiled at my little girl, taking after my taste for expensive brands. Before I could take the coat off the rack, Wilmer obstructed my way.

"Wait, hold on...how much is it? Are we going to get a deal for that?"

"Babe please?" I insisted, Wilmer however thought otherwise.

I sighed and bent down to meet eye level with Luna, "Baby, it's a very nice coat but remember you're going to school to learn, not make a fashion statement. I'll buy this for you next time okay?"

Luna pouted but nodded, held my hand and made our way back to the other store.

"You can pick as many clothes as you want here." I informed.

While Luna looked around the store and put anything she wanted into the cart, a cute black floral dress caught my eye that I thought would look cute on her. I felt a light tap on my shoulder; spinning around I was greeted with Nick Jonas my long time best friend.

"Nick, it's so good to see you! how have you been?"

"Not too bad, how about yourself?"

"Yeah yeah, not too bad, just been busy looking after this little monkey. Luna come over here!" I summoned. "You remember Uncle Nick don't you baby?"

"Hello Uncle Nick" Luna quietly greeted, then quickly hid behind my leg.

"She gets shy when she meets new people or people she can't remember, don't worry though, she'll come around" I assured.

After several seconds of awkward silence, Nick spoke: "So what are you doing here?"

"Buying school supplies and new clothes for Luna, she'll be in first grade"

"Wow, she's growing up too fast!"

My subtle giggle quickly died down. "So what brings you to the mall on a Sunday morning Mr Jonas?"

"My Girlfriend uh...Olivia wanted to buy a new dress to wear for her cousins wedding next week."

I rolled my eyes, "Ugh I never liked her, how did you end up back together?"

"It's a long story Dems" Nick spoked, clipping short the conversation.

Before the conversation could become more awkward, Wilmer came just in time.

"Hey Wilmer, long time no see." Nick greeted.

"Nick." Wilmer nodded with a strained expression.

"Well, we better get going, Luna wants to head to the check out." I explained.

"Coming Wil?"

"Yeah babe, lets go" Wilmer replied, pushing the cart to the check out while I looped my hand around his arm.
