The holidays are supposed to be about love, and laughter and spending time with the people you love the most, this year for you it looked like you would be spending it alone. You are currently sitting on the couch staring at the Christmas tree and the presents underneath it, alone with a severe headache barreling toward you. You and your boyfriend Alex had just got into a screaming match about, you couldn't even remember what it was about, but it was horrible just the same. He had left about twenty minutes ago, slamming the door shut behind him calling that it was over. You guessed he went to a teammates house, leaving you to spend Christmas with only your dog and the little baby growing inside you.
You had planned to tell him that you were pregnant by handing him a wrapped present. It was a picture frame filled with pictures of your relationship, the game where you had first met, your first kiss, (caught on camera by a fellow team member) the night in New York where they beat the Rangers in game seven, and a bunch of others depicting your adventures all over. In the middle would be the picture from your first Sonogram entitled "Our Next Adventure". You had been planning it for weeks and you had set it up so that you could record it to get his reaction.
You pull yourself off the couch and rip open the package that you had strategically placed. You stare down at it before imagining things that could have happened with Alex, but very well might be on your own. The birth, going to the playground, first days of school, everything. You are startled from your daydream about what could have been when your other baby, your dog Buster walks up to you and nuzzles his head into your arm before laying his head down in your lap. You pet him slowly before speaking softly.
"Well Buster old boy, guess it's just us." Then you go back to silent and let the tears fall unchecked.
You awake a few hours later to the door opening and closing, you were now curled up, the present a few feet away from you opened so that anyone could see. You pretend to stay asleep before Alex's voice carries through the apartment. "(Y/N), where are you we need to talk." You almost respond but instead keep your head on your arms and your breathing even while he comes into the living room.
"There you are, look I'm sorry for what I said earlier, I didn't mean any of it. I've just been really crazed about the teams performance and-" He cuts off and you know he's seen the present. "Oh well I guess you opened a present, and since I've never seen it before I guess it's one for me." You hear him rustling through the paper before there's dead silence.
"Babe, I know you aren't asleep. Please talk to me about this." His voice is soft, like a throw blanket you keep on the couch.
"I didn't think you were coming back so, I might as well open the one present I was excited for you to see." You keep your head down but the words are crystal clear. "You were gone Alex, and the way you left, you made it sound as if we were over. I had to look at our entire relationship one last time, in case I had to move on." You roll over as he tucks his arm under you and gently draws you into his lap.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to get so out of hand. I read an article this morning about how my status this season and it, isn't a very nice article. It clouded me over and I wasn't thinking straight, I took it all out on the wrong person. I'm not going to leave you I swear. I just needed some time to think and I realized that I was making a horrendous decision. Please forgive me." You lean up and lightly kiss him.
"I'm going to hold this over you forever Killorn." You murmur and he grins.
"Anything for you Princess," he leans over and presses a kiss to your stomach as well. "And you too little one. From the minute you're born in..." He looks up at you.
"June" You reply smiling.
"June, until the end of time I am never leaving you." He moved to kiss you. "That goes for you too."
"I love you Alex"
"I love you too (Y/N)".

It's so short I know, and I completely failed on the update schedule but I wanted to get a holiday type piece up today. I hope you all have a safe, happy holiday, and I'll try to update again later. Thank you by the way for 122k, it's crazy what you guys have done for me <3.
