James' pov
It was Christmas Day and today I was going to propose to Gemma at dinner tonight, both of our families are coming over. We had planned to open our presents from each other this morning and then open the others later.
Gemma came down and we had bacon sandwiches. We opened our presents and she adored her necklace and everything else I got her. She got me clothes and a nice watch, how she afforded it I do not know, she got me other stuff too. We all got ready and we set up for dinner and started to cook, everyone turned up and we all had a glass of wine, soon enough dinner was ready and we all sat and ate.
After the meal, we made a toast
"I have a few things to say" i say
"Um, first of all, merry Christmas and its so nice to have you all here today to celebrate with us. However I have something to ask Gemma" i say
"Gemma we have been best friends since we were 3 years old and when i moved I thought I wouldn't meet anyone" I say
"I made the worst mistake in losing contact with you, but when I came back and I saw you were getting married I wanted to cry, I love you that long, now I have you, I couldn't be happier. So I have one thing to ask" i say and walk round to her and get on one knee
"Gemma will you marry me" i say
"Yes, yes of course I'll marry you" she says
we share a kiss and I put the ring on her finger
"Well I think this calls for a toast" her mum says
"Congratulations to my wonderful daughter and new son in Law, I wish you all the happiness in the world" she says
"Thanks mum" gemma says and hugs her mum
my mum and dad said they were happy with us and I couldn't be happier. That's the best christmas present in the world
