the clock struck midnight.

people kissing in euphoria, it was quite the sight.

she promised much to herself but left it all behind that night.

feelings were unaccustomed, a different type of fright.

the unimaginable occured & her heart exploded like dynamite.

she sat alone in the darkness, beyond her was bliss and light.

failure at her fingertips but she continued to recite.

the light was drawing nearer, growing more and more bright.

she would survive, though the pain did bite.

another year arrived and 2016 ended, she was sanguine and felt just right.

when the clock struck twelve again, she knew she would be fearless of every single height.

. . .

happy new years! comment your new year resolutions, i'm curious to know.
