what is peace?
i think it comes from within
but it's hard to say
a peaceful home is only an occasional luxury
so i try to leave
i go to a home
with happy families
but my stay is cut short
and i have to come back
to this house
every night is a riot here
in this house
violent trembling has only become a routine
in this suburban home
thuds and crashes shake the walls
piercing headaches in bathroom stalls
where i go to escape
but it's only colder
and lonelier
so keyboards and headphones have become my best friend
to ward off the shrieks
what is peace?
it comes from within
within the safety of these walls
