The Demons Among Us

everywhere they lurk, looking for their next victim 

some try to stay away, but always end up tripping

the demons within us are always there 

even though some are hard to bare

mental illness, drugs, sex, alcohol whatever the case may be

those demons always find a way to stay in the lead

these demons we have can be defeated 

with the love of family and friends who come when needed

fighting them is not easy 

you have to maintain a certain speed

giving up sometimes feels like the only thing left to do 

always remember there is only one YOU

ask for help, beg and plead

don't let the demons plant their seed

if you feel the darkness caving in 

there are people who can lend a hand. 

so when you're feeling like the end is near 

reach out to those who will always be there. 

these demons among us are always lurking 

but this time, i will not be their next victim.
