Team Harry won. They trampled Team Bella with a grande total of one hundred and twenty three amazing prices of fan art. Team Bella had forty seven. On Friday during lunch me and Quinn had piled up out collected fan art and doodles, then weeded out the good ones. Quinn started out with his me hundred and eighty nine and I started with seventy seven. I wasn't all that disappointed because, again, all this had proved was there were more Harry Potter fans in our school than Twilight fans. It really said nothing at all about who's fandom was better. Still I was glad that it was the weekend, and, even better, the beginning of February break. They meant I wouldn't have to deal with Quinns taunting for an entire week! I was also a little annoyed with the new kid, Kam. He was very funny and nice and all, but he was infatuated with Jamie. Jamie wouldn't stop talking about his annoying he was. So I was looking forward to a week of relaxation in which I'd probably reread Twilight, have a marathon and make a lot of covers on Wattpad.
On Saturday Quinns sister Ryley came over to hang out with Myla. She was brought by a very flustered looking Mrs Cooper. I'd only seen Mrs Cooper at a glance before but now I realized her son looked very much like her. They had the same messy, brown curls, which Ryley also had, and hazel eyes and tan skin. I was in the kitchen making myself some macaroni for lunch while Dad put up the call back list for the latest show he was directing at the PTA, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Darby was playing with play dough at the table.
I immediately realized Mrs Cooper was upset about something. Her smile was haphazard and her eyes looked red as if she had been crying."Oh hello Rose and Ryley," said Dad looking away from his laptop to greet our guests. "I think Myla's upstairs,"
Ryley smiled shyly.
"Thank you Mr Charlot," Ryley said shyly and then she rushed upstairs.
"Thank you for having her," said Mrs Cooper.
Her eyes seemed to well with tears. I looked at my dad hard, trying to make him realize he was talking to a woman who looked like she might have a break down any minute. But Dad was only giving her half of his attention as he continued to type out the call back list.
"Oh no problem," said Dad "Ryleys a sweet kid. So is Quinn! There both great kids!"
"I know they are aren't they?" said Mrs Cooper.
Her words ended in a huge sob which made Dad look up with a perplexed expression. Mrs Cooper started to cry into the collar of her purple jacket. Dad jumped to his feet in alarm.
"Rose!" He cried "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine!" Mrs Cooper sobbed in a muffled voice "Its just...I'm so worried!"
Then she threw herself at my father who was quite taken aback. He patted her awkwardly on the shoulder. I pretended to be busy with my macaroni but was secretly watching this scene out of the corner of my eye. Darby was full on gaping at them with her mouth hanging open in confusion and her hands left in a large clump of play dough. Dad pried Mrs Cooper off and had her sit down at the table. He sat down in front of her and said in a calm patient voice, "Start from the beginning . Tell me everything."
"C-could I have a tissue?" Mrs Quinn choked out.
Dad turned to look at me.
"Veve get some tissues please!" He said.
He wore a vaguely panicked expression. I nodded and left my noodles boiling as I hurried into the bathroom which was off of our kitchen. I pulled a bundle of toilet paper off the active roll, we never kept tissues, then hurried back into the kitchen. I hurried over to Mrs Cooper who was still sobbing.
"Thank you dear," she sobbed taking the toilet paper from me.
She let out a loud trumpeting noise as she blew her nose.
