"What's the deal with your friend? The one we used to spend time with?"

Sven shrugged his shoulders and he rearranged the pillows Luca had thrown off the couch. "Be more vague Tanner."

"I don't know the...red head I think?"

"I don't know any red heads. What's the interest?" Sven couldn't help the growing dread.

"The best way for Griffin to get over Reagan is to get into someone else." Tanner replied pleasantly. "He just needs to get laid."

"What a typical way for you to think." Sven replied. "I doubt any of my friends would be interested in someone like that."

Tanner frowned. "What does that mean?"

"I mean... He'a got money. He's just not from money. They're the socialite type."

"Like you?"

"Not quite. I'm still royalty." A puppy raced through the room, something in his mouth. "What was that?"

"I'll go check."

Tanner followed the were into the other room. Luca had laid down, gnawing on the arm of a teddy bear. His little teeth put a hole in it and he began to pull stuffing from it. "Luca--you'll ruin it."

Luca took the toy in his jaws and tried to dart into the next room. Tanner moved far quicker however, scooping him up. Luca's ears flopped to and fro. Tanner smiled and tugged the bear out of his mouth. His smiled turned into a grimace as he felt the cold drool. Luca shifted back and made grabby hands at the toy. "Daddy give back!"

"Daddy needs to get Luca ready to go nun-night."

Luca whimpered and went lax in his hands, almost making Tanner drop him. "Careful," he scowled. "C'mon."

"Tanner?"

He looked at Sven who held out the phone. "Can you get him into some pjs for me?" Tanner asked.

"Sure. Ready, Luca?"

"Daddy tuck me in, still? With Fen?"

"Yes pumpkin. Just give me a moment."

Tanner took the phone with a good idea of who it was. "How're you doing?"

"I've been a lot better. Sorry about earlier."

"You were hurt. It's okay."

"I just feel ike its not too late to fix things."

Tanner bit back a sigh. "Griffin--"

"No, really. We could have lunch and things can change--I can change."

The desperation in his voice bothered Tanner. He began to dislike Reagan all over again. "Move on from him," Tanner begged. "I have someone I want you to meet. Someone who isn't in it for the money."

"I don't want anyone else."

"At least give him a chance, Griffin." Was there a man? No. But Tanner could definitely find someone. "Besides, he called me and--"

"He called you? Why? He won't even answer to my calls." Griffin's voice choked a bit and Tanner felt awful.

"I'm so sorry."

"You're sorry? What did he say?"

"That he never asked to be a vampire. That he's not coping with eternal life well. It's for the best the two of you aren't together anymore Griffin."

"I saved him. They were rounding up all the humans and putting into the Blood Banks--"

"You can't save someone who didn't want to be saved." Tanner replied carefully. "

"I just want him to love me the way I love him," Griffin choked. "I haven't been alone like this in three centuries."

"It's not bad."

"You've never been alone." he snapped. "You always had Sven. He hasn't left you once."

"Well--"

"You have no idea what it's like to be alone Tanner. Admit it."

"I guess I've always had Sven with me... Regardless. you should at least meet this guy."

"I don't know--"

"Dinner. I'll set the whole thing up. All you ened to do is show up with an open mind. Deal?"

"I...I guess."

Tanner hung up feeling triumphant and worried. "He's waiting for you to tuck him in."

"It was Griffin."

"I assumed it would be. You two are practically an item, you know that?" Sven playfully winked and I snickered.

"Speaking of, I'm going to need you to find him a date."

Sven blanched. "I told you--"

"It was spur of a moment thing. You've got to know someone who's down for a pity fuck."

Sven groaned. "You're the only friend I have. I knew people when we were younger and more in the Scene but now... They could be halfway across the world! I wouldn't even know how to contact them."

Tanner let out a groan of regret. "Anyone?"

Sven shrugged helplessly before pursuing his lips. "There may be one but I'm not sure if his affiliations."

"Affiliations?"

"He's an Angel. His Earthly tour is for a couple hundred years I think. We met through a mutual acquaintance."

"Angel huh?" Tanner couldn't help but scrunch his face up at the Godly messenger.

God had left the Earth to Lucifer. His realm was Heaven--a place any creation of Lucifer wasn't welcomed. Angels were allowed on Earth to observe. They were notorious for finding groups of Believers in Blood Banks and taking them back with them. Nowadays they had changed it to a much more logical process. They took souls and left empty, working shells.

Regardless, vampires didn't often run with Angels. They kept themselves busy anyway. "He's really nice--"

"They're all really nice. It's kind of their job."

"But if an Angel engages with a vampire... He gives up his position. He's cast to Earth."

"So why would he go with Griffin?"

"True love is a powerful thing. Maybe they'll click."

"And the chances of that are..."

"Beyond slim. But we can hope?"

"Or we can track down an Angel who's permanently on Earth and save Griffin yet another rejection."

"Earthly Angels who didn't Fall for love are bad news." Tanner argued. "I could see about someone at work but..."

"Daddy!" Luca's voice carried to them at a piercing pitch. They both flinched.

"Keep thinking. I'll be back."

Upstairs Luca was curled into Daddy's bad. "Did you go potty already?"

"Yes!"

"And we're going to try and sleep the whole night. Right?"

"Marco come visit?"

"No Luca. Not tonight."

Luca poured up at him. "Come to the park tomorrow?"

"No, sorry." Tanner tucked him in smoothing the blankets over his body. "Goodnight cupcake. Daddy will be up here soon."

"Mmkay." Luca's little eyelids fluttered shut. "Good sleeps Daddy."

Tanner couldn't help but smiled "Good sleeps darling."
