[This is part of a story called Left in the Dark. But I never really finished the idea of the book. It was about these different kids who had powers. It was a cool idea but I didn't finish it. I hope you enjoy this little insight of the story]

"And the two looked to the sun setting." Isabel finished the last sentence as she closed the book. She looked at Xavier and asked, "What do you think?"

"Wow! I loved it! That twist was surprising." He smiled. The two kids were both lying on their stomach in their childlike fort. The past couple of weeks they have been reading and talking to each other. Isabel had just finish the book they've been reading the past few days. Their hideout was in the far dark corner of the library where no one goes. It was one of the places that the two first talked to each other.

"Yeah i like it too. It's one of my favorites." Isabel grabbed a book from a stack that they had made. It was full of books that they either read and liked or books that sounded good. She handed the book to Xavier, "Here, it's your turn."

"What?! You know that i'm really bad at reading, especially out loud."

"I'm sorry, I don't have any cheese for that wine." She smiled at him.

"Really? You're pulling that joke."

"Yes," She grinned brightly, "Now stop being a baby and read."

Xavier looked at the book cover, something something something. He looked back up to see that she was still smiling at him. "Fine i'll try. Just to warn you, i'm not that good."

"It's ok. You'll do fine." Isabel laid her head on her arms, still watching Xavier who was to her right side.

He open the book and started reading, " Something Idk yet. I still need to find a book to add in the story . . ." At first he was nervous, but he read on. Every once in awhile, he would look over at Isabel. She still had her head laid down with her soft smile. When he made a mistake, her smile turned into a grin. And a few times she would say the word so he would know how to say it the right way.

Isabel watched Xavier read. He stumbled over some words at the beginning. But after a bit, he stumbled once every few pages. He eyes darted across the pages as he read. His warm voice filled the quiet library. All she wanted to do was snuggle up with a warm blanket and fall asleep. She slowly closed her eyes.

Not long after, she could hear her name being called. Isabel opened her right eye, "Hmm?"

"Isabel, if I'm boring you, you can go up stairs and sleep."

She shook her, "No. I'm good. I'm just going to close . . ." Her eye closed as her voice disappeared.

Xavier laughed to himself. He looked at the book and kept on reading out loud, even if Isabel was asleep. Then he stopped. He looked over at the sleeping girl. She was sweet and fun to be around. He got up from the floor and crawled over to their stack of blankets and pillows. He grabbed a blue quilt that was on top. He went back to his friend. Xavier put the quilt over her. He then layed on his back and opened the book, He then started reading again.

A few chapters later, Xavier was at a very intense scene, He then felt something hit his side. He jumped. He looked over to his right. Isabel had turned to her side and now her head was laying against his shoulder. She inched closer to him. Her knee bumped his leg. He looked back at the book with a smile on his face.

~*~

Isabel sat up and screamed. Xavier opened his eyes. He had fell asleep with the book on his chest. He sat up. Isabel was holding her head with her hands. He put the book to the side and moved over to her.

"Hey, are you okay?" He was right next to her.

She didn't answer him.

"Isabel, what's wrong?"

She sat there, not speaking a word.

Xavier stayed still. He never really knew what to do in these situations. He moved a little closer to the quiet girl. He hesitated for a second. He didn't know if he should do it or not. He went with his gut. He placed his hand on her and started rubbing her back. Isabel relaxed a bit.

After a few, she picked her head up. Xavier quickly moved his hand away. And in a small voice, she said, "Sorry." She looked up at him. He could tell that she was crying. Not by her face, but by her eyes. For Isabel's eyes were bloodshot red. Before he could study more of her face, she got up from ground. She ran her fingers through her hair and said, "We should probably put this up before anyone sees it."

Xavier just nodded.
