A Different Window To The Soul

JERONIMO!

She said: "I've got to be honest,

this gravity thing is really keeping me down.

Why should I be forced to comply to these rules,

when all I want is to detach from the ground?"  

I said: "You're just talking crazy,

People were never meant to soar in the sky.

That's why the Lord hasn't blessed us with wings,

if you jump off this cliff you will die!"  

She said: "You know that's the problem,

You think too much and always dream small.

Sometimes to fly like a bird or a plane,

you must be willing to first take the fall"  

I said: "There's no way I'll do it,

Because surely I'm too young to die.

So just step away from the edge of that cliff,

or I'll leave and just bid you goodbye."  

I turned my face away to deter her,

Hoping she'd follow my lead.

These childish ideas she had drove me mad

but she failed all my warnings to heed .  

She just stood there stubborn and smiling,

And I knew she made up her mind

I can't understand for the love of it all

what was it she hoped she would find.  

 She jumped, just before I could stop her,

and "Jeronimo" was the last thing I heard,

And wouldn't you know, I was wrong all along,

Cause she rose, and she flew like a bird!
