Ahna's opening monologue
Ahna:
Honore de Balzac once said, "solitude is fine, but you need someone to tell that solitude is fine". I don't really understand this quote, but it kind of reminds me of eternal loneliness, you know? Like the idea of being surrounded by people, and still feeling completely alone? Well, that's kind of how Capestown was for me. A never ending spiral of loneliness and pretending. Everyone wanted to be my friend, or my boyfriend, or they absolutely hated me for no reason at all. Most days all I wanted was to get through the day without arguing with anyone, or to even just disappear altogether. It was as if someone had deemed me the stereotypical 'it girl' before I was old enough to object, and the entire town refused to see me as anything else. But no one ever knew the real me. So, here it is. The undeniably true story of the year that I, Ahna Brownestone, went insane.
