Outside Roxanne's childhood home, two car doors opened and shut, and she watched break lights flash. She knew it couldn't be max, the hum of his old motor was a sound she'd always recognize. She hunched past her living room window and stood behind a wall, just in front of the front door. She was surprised to hear her doorbell ring and headed to the door lightly. Carefully, she stood on the balls of her feet peering through the peephole to see two tall dark haired men on her front step.
Dressed in small black shorts and a white t-shirt that hung loosely off of her shoulder, Roxanne slid her gun into the umbrella prop at the door and opened her door to the Winchester boys. Dressed in all black suits they clearly thought she was a normal civilian and were here to do what she had done to so many others before.
"Hello, Roxanne Barnett?" the tallest asked. She recognized him as Dean, the eldest of the two.
"Yes, and who might you be?" She thought is best to act as if she didn't know what was going on. Any questions they may have had for her could only bring her closer to finding her friend, and learning why they would be interested in Sonny's disappearance.
"I'm officer Roger Phillips this is my partner Keith Barnes, we're investigating the disappearance of Sonny Dillon." They may be famous hunters but creativity was not a skill that they possessed.
"I've already spoken to authorities, I don't understand."
"I know m'am but we've been sent from a station not too far out of town to speak with you about the recent events. A similar case has came up at our precinct. May we come in?"
She coolly nodded her head and stepped aside, allowing Sam to come in followed by his brother. She lead them into the living room where they sat on the couch, facing Roxanne who crossed her legs in a leather love seat.
"So we do know the basic facts of your case, we've read your file, but for documentation purposes could you explain to us your day when Sonny went missing?"
"Sure. We came home from Sunday mass as usual, and we were making something to eat. Our service ran from 11:00 to 1:00 pm and we drove back home. It was a normal Sunday he was acting fine."
"And prior to that day? Was anything out of the normal? You were in town?"
"I work out of town at a reception job. Sonny's commute's far out too we only see each other at night. Sundays are our days off. I would know if something wasn't right we're close." Sonny and Roxanne spent weekdays hunting. Usually nothing too far out of state, Texas was dense enough to keep yourself busy in without stirring up a commotion. All of these years nothing ever seemed to follow them home.
"And are you seeing each other?"
"No we're just roommates."
"So you're single," Dean said clearly trying to maintain his professional facade.
"Yeah. So what is this other case that you were talking about?" Now was her chance to find some real answers.
"Oh, well a bit a ways out in Corpus Kristi a young lady went missing too. Around Sonny's age, in the middle of the day. Both disappearances seem out of character from what we've gathered and we were wondering if maybe they could be related," Sam smooth talked.
Not more than a week ago Roxanne and Sonny worked a demon job in Corpus Kristi, which seemed like a slow day until now. Before she could bring up another question, she watched a black car SUV slow down across the street. "Michelle Turner," she trailed, standing up and looking through the small spaces in her blinds.
"Yes actually, you're familiar with her story?"
"I watch the news." Carefully she parted the blinds and watched a window roll down. She couldn't make out a face but she knew someone was watching back.
"Expecting company?"
"No." The girl was now distinctly aware of Dean's tall presence beside her at the large window, and he too peered by her blinds. Roxanne looked back to Sam who now sat up alert. "Uh officer, would you come here for a second?"
Sam stood up and looked through the blinds beside his brother. Two large men, familiar to the boys had exited the car and were approaching the house.
