Melanie Devaan hasn't ever gotten along with people very well. To be fair, she never really tried. She was known as that weird loner girl in all her years of Elementary & Middle school. Melanie had a best friend once, though. Turned out all he wanted from her was something she would never give any boy. That's another reason she didn't have any friends. She was basically surrounded by homophobic people whatever school she'd go to. Also, her parents couldn't care less about her. Melanie Devaan pretty much had a shit life. So she decided, 'why not steal my parents' money and get out of this place'? And that's what she did on her 15th birthday. She got the hell out of there, happily, never to return again. She would take cabs to New York where she could easily blend in.

Skye Pamilian used to be the most popular and loved girl of her school. She had it all. The talent, the kindness, the beauty, the charm, honestly everything a girl could ask for. Except for one thing that was important to her. Someone who actually loved her. Her parents and friends used to love her unconditionally. That is, until they found out she wasn't exactly what they hoped she was. Of course, she had the whole package, but there was one thing that nobody she knew accepted. Her sexuality. In 8th grade when a picture of her kissing a girl spread around, her reputation was replaced by "The lesbian freak". Her "friends" did awful pranks on her, and her parents would look at her in disgust everytime she would walk past. Then in the summer before 9th grade, her parents left. Literally just left. She woke up to everything packed up and gone. A vague note saying that they thought it would be better to start a new life somewhere else. The only things they left were clothes and $50. That's how much they cared. She was immediately shooed out of the house by the realtor and left to live on the streets. After too many occurences where her past classmates would beat her up or laugh at her, she decided to travel to the state next to her, New York. It wasn't too far since she lived on the edge of Massachusetts.
