Sigyn giggled as she played with the black cat. He stuck around in the servants' chambers for almost a couple weeks now, and she was glad that he was not planning to leave her. Now her days were exciting, filled with both the cat and with Loki. She never thought that in all of her years of life, she would be talking to him so much. She always thought she was going to stay in the shadows forever, longingly gazing at him from a distance. These days she was front and center in his bedroom lifestyle. Outside the bedroom, they did not speak a word to each other. Every once in a while, he would give her a smiling nod in her direction and she would return the gesture, but that was all. If any of the other servants or any of the royals noticed her growing friendship with Loki, then they were both in serious trouble. She knew she could handle everything that came into her way, but she did not know what would happen to Loki. Sigyn would be the punished one; however, Thor would do everything in his power to make sure Loki was punished as well. She could not even think of the possibilities.

Loki advised her not to worry about the cat's origin, that it was probably a stray from the streets, but Sigyn disagreed. This cat, who still remained unnamed, looked too healthy and regal to be a stray. There was something about the cat that seemed very familiar to her, but she could not figure out what it was. Instead she chose to play with him whenever she could. The cat seemed to have a great habit of curling up in her lap, purring softly as she stroked his soft coat. It calmed Sigyn down from the hectic bits of the day, and she used the opportunity to talk about Loki. There was no one else she could talk to about him, so the cat was a perfect outlet. She found herself dreamily telling the cat things about Loki that only remained in her head, and things about him she had recently discovered. It was soothing, and relieved her from a lot of stress.

As the weeks and months passed by, she still could not believe how nice he was to her. He never tried anything mischievous with her, and he always seemed to tell her the truth. This was not the way he was with others, and Sigyn grew very concerned. She was certain that he was messing with her mind, though her heart was telling her that he was just lonely. He barely had any friends to talk to besides Thor and his best friends, and Loki barely liked them. Sigyn was probably one of the only people in Asgard Loki could tolerate. To him, she was not 'stupid' like all the other girls he passed by; she was more intelligent and brave than any one of them.

There was barely a moment when she was alone, even at night. Her mother's bed was next to hers, and on some nights, the cat snuggled with her under her blanket. Sigyn thought it was absolutely adorable, and Loki smiled at her when she told him that. It was an unusual smile, one that she did not have time to process and dissect.

She noticed that Loki seemed to answer the door later than usual in the mornings. Through his appearance he looked worn and disheveled, as if he never got any sleep, yet when he was around her he looked hyper and excited. She was so puzzled by his different behavior, but decided to regard it as nothing important. She had quarters to clean, and she only had free time with Loki when she approached his. He was open to any topic of conversation, so they talked about everything. To her, it was surprising that she did a decent job in his quarters.

To make matters more shocking, after only four months of switching chores, Odin granted her the chore of his living quarters. This was unheard of, for he and his wife had a wonderfully faithful servant for many years. Apparently, this servant passed away in her sleep the day before, and Loki recommended her to his parents. It seemed as though they were impressed with her work, and decided to promote her.

Sigyn asked Loki if he had something to do with this. "Why?" he grinned at her. "I only praised your work, that's all."

She approached the edge of his bed where he laid, delicately resting her fingers a couple inches from where his legs were. "It just seems weird," she tilted her head, studying him carefully for any sort of hint. "The quarters servant died in her sleep, and then I'm put in charge of your room. And now, this servant man has passed away, in his sleep as well, and I am now in charge of your parents' room."
