Alaric, Damon, Kai and I were still in the hidden room of the Armory's vault.
Kai was explaining how he got back three days ago the night the bell rang, and he had killed someone in the Grill. "Is that weird or what? I mean, I can still touch stuff. I'm not a ghost. I'm more like a psychic imprint. Stuck between dimensions, thanks to Hell's bell, one foot on earth, the other in Cade's nightmare world of hurt. On the run, off the grid, a renegade, relaying only on his wits." He walked past us, smiling, laughing. "A renegade. That's funny." We turned to face him incredulously. "I can still do magic if I siphon myself, but even then, it takes concentration." I looked at the bone blade that was supposed to kill Cade in my hand, absolutely angry and furious at the sight of the Heretic that had nearly made me lose my mind, made me turn my humanity off, and nearly made me kill Stefan and Damon during that time four years ago. "It's like having cell reception on Mars." I rushed toward Kai, pushing him against the wall, putting the blade to his throat. "Hey, Nicola. Still pissed about that hex I gave you, huh?"
"More pissed about the fact that you turned me into a killer and nearly made me kill Stefan and Damon," I answered angrily.
"All right, I get it," Kai told us. "If someone had done that to me, I would be pissed, too."
"You murdered my wife," Alaric told him angrily.
"Ah, fiance," Kai told him. "It was mid-ceremony, as I remember. But, yes, yes, yes, huge huge mistake. I see that now. I do." He held his hand toward me, trying to use magic against me. "Motus." When nothing happened, I smirked smugly, though I was still completely angry and barely hanging onto control. Kai frowned in confusion. "Why is magic not working on you?"
"Not the concern of a dead man walking," I told him.
Damon pulled me away from Kai. "Nikki, hey. Hey. Not yet, not yet." He turned to Kai. "I have some questions. Starting with how the hell are you here?"
"Why don't you tell me?" Kai asked. "You guys rang some giant bell, and suddenly, I could see Mystic Falls, so I went for it. And here I am... sort of. Please don't tell Cade."
"You were in Hell?" Damon asked.
"Yeah, you killed me," Kai told him. "I think I'm on the wait list for Heaven, but they're not returning my calls."
"You said you had a better idea than killing Cade with this dagger," Damon told him.
"Find a way to get me out of Hell, all the way, and then I'll help you kill Cade," Kai told us.
"I think we can manage without you," Alaric told him. He looked at me. "Nicola?"
I smirked, lunging toward Kai to attack him.
Kai cringed back in fear. "What if I brought back Elena?"
Damon stopped me, pulling me back. "Let's hear him out, Nikki."
I sighed in annoyance.
********
Alaric, Damon and I walked out into the main room of the Armory to talk alone.
"The kid's a sociopath, Damon," I told him "You're gonna get us all killed."
"Not necessarily," Damon told us.
"Then have at it," Alaric told us sarcastically. "And while you're trying to outsmart the Devil, I'm gonna barricade myself in here with my two girls, who in case you forgot, Kai tried to murder while they were still in utero."
"I haven't forgotten, Ric," Damon told him. "Look, Nikki, when I get out of him what I want, you can send him back to Hell in pieces. I'll let you rip him apart, I promise you."
