KEATON

I woke up to the blaring sound of my alarm clock. Annoyed, I dragged myself out of bed, headed to the bathroom, and took a shower. Today, I'm finally going to execute my plan to uncover everything about Kirsten. The plan is simple: get close to her, then boom! I'll know her inside and out.

Or... I might even find out all her hidden secrets, if she has any.

After showering, I got dressed (of course) and went downstairs to have breakfast.

As I reached the dining table, I found Mom and Dad already eating.

"Good morning, baby!" Mom greeted me cheerfully, her usual energetic self. Dad gave me a warm smile.

"Morning, Mom. Morning, Dad," I greeted back, leaning in to kiss Mom on the cheek. Sweet as my mom may seem, she's an entirely different person in a fight. She's an assassin. Dad, on the other hand, is a mafia boss—just like Kent's mom. However, Dad's organization ranks second, while the Grimor, Kent's family mafia, is number one.

Our group is called the Dauntless Mafia. The Grimor and Dauntless are partners in business transactions, and our families are best friends. Honestly, it feels like the only thing left to do is unite the two sides officially. But of course, the Grimor will always call the shots—they lead 12 organizations under their command. Out of those 12, we're second in rank. In total, there are 20 mafia groups in the Philippines, not counting those abroad. Naturally, having rivals is inevitable, and plenty of groups have attempted to challenge the Grimor.

Psh. Enough about mafia stuff—I've said more than enough already.

After finishing breakfast, I said goodbye to Mom and Dad, then sped off to school. I drove fast because I was too excited about my plan. This time, it's going to work—I can feel it.

When I arrived at the university, I headed straight to the classroom. It was still early, and as expected, no one was there yet. Class doesn't start until 9:00 a.m., and it was only 7:30. I took a seat at the back and rested my head on the desk, but my attention was caught by someone on the other side of the room.

A girl was sitting there, her head down as if she were asleep.

Wait... I know her. Kirsten. What's she doing here so early? I couldn't see her face clearly because her hair was covering it. Her head was tilted slightly toward my side, giving me a good view, even with her hair in the way.

Even with her hair obscuring part of her face, it was undeniable—she's stunning. No, scratch that. She's goddamn gorgeous.

Without thinking, I gently brushed her hair aside to get a clearer look. My gaze drifted to her lips—pinkish, soft, and kissable. Lunok-laway. They looked so tempting. I couldn't stop myself from imagining what it would be like to kiss her.

Damn it. I'm being a pervert again. Psh! But honestly, who wouldn't be tempted by someone this beautiful?

"Staring is rude, especially at someone's lips," she suddenly said, her eyes still closed.

I froze, my eyes widening in shock. Panicked, I quickly sat up straight.

"What are you talking about? I wasn't staring at your... not-so-kissable lips," I retorted, avoiding her gaze. She adjusted her posture, sitting upright.

"K."

That's all she said. Just "K." She didn't even get mad at what I said. Any other girl would have flipped out if they heard me insult their lips. Ugh!

"Your lips are rough, like frog skin," I added, testing if she'd get annoyed.

"K."

What the hell?!

"Why are you always like this?!" I finally burst out, frustrated. She's the only girl who can piss me off this much—like I'm invisible to her.

"What are you talking about?" she replied flatly. That didn't even sound like a question.

"Why are you so unaffected by my good looks?!" That wasn't what I meant to say, but it just slipped out.

"You're not handsome," she replied plainly.

What?! A lot of girls chase after me, yet here she is, saying I'm not good-looking?

"What the hell?! Are you blind?! Don't you know how many girls would kill to be with me?!" I yelled, completely exasperated.

"No, I'm not blind. And I'm not one of those girls—and I'll never be," she said flatly, like she couldn't care less about me.

"Bu—"

"Shut up. I'm going back to sleep," she cut me off, lying her head back down.

Seriously?! Who goes back to sleep this early?! But I won't stop. I'll find a way to annoy her—she has to react at some point.

"People say you're beautiful, but I don't see it. Honestly, you're ugly. Look at your face, your eyelashes looks like falling off and your fake eyebrows. And those lips—like dry—"

I didn't get to finish my sentence. She shot me a sharp glare that made my words die in my throat.

Wrong move. Shit.

"Uhm... W-What now?" I stammered, swallowing hard.

"Don't speak. Or I'll rip your tongue out," she threatened before burying her head back down.

Her tone sent chills down my spine.

Angry and frustrated, I stormed out of the classroom, slamming the door behind me.

The sound echoed as I stomped away.

Damn it. She's so infuriating!
