Lingering around you like a fammenting smell
Consistent aching like a fever overwhelming
I reach for you, but I am stuck in a abandoned well
The urge for a compassionate touch, to have a sense of living
Beauty unattainable
Distant lighthouse fades in the fog
Watching vicariously
Sinking slowly with cement shoes in the bog
Muffled sounds of a rabid animal chained and forgotten
Longing for embracing warmth
A shelter to reside in, and receive food that isn't rotten.
As if throwing away an old habit
Making the wound fester again
Shivering from withdrawals
I say everything is okay, but you know I just pretend
