He sits in vigilance,
Waiting for his friend to awaken...
With only one eye intact and the other suspended from its former position,
By an eight millimetre thread of anthracite hue...
Explosions rang the only lullabies that night;
Dark, thunderous and encompassing...
His friend a two year-old girl,

Author's notes - This peace was inspired by a session on a Creative Writing Group. One of the members gave us objects and a sentence written on a piece of paper to write about and the object that I was given was her child's Miniature Teddy Bear. A great, yet challenging exercise.
I had a lot of other work to do over the past months for a Group Anthology, which was also challenging as it was about how music inspires you and how it makes you feel. I finally found however that I had already written some pieces about this exact subject, so I put some old pieces with some new. All this halted me to finish this piece. However the other work I was doing has now been put forward for the Group Anthology and one piece has also been sent to a competition. So I am just waiting for the results of those now.
Anyway I hope you like the end result of this piece. Thank you for reading.
