8 SOULs
You couldn't believe in what you saw and heard. Sans was hugging you like there was no tomorrow. Well, to be honest you didn't know if you would walk out alive. After all your plan was only a theoretic one. It could go terribly wrong and maybe even kill you. But still, you had to try your best.
"Sans... I'm so sorry. I don't know what you remember or how you see me now. Just let me say what I need to tell you. I love you and I need to do this. We could have lived happily together in an another timeline. Right now I have to follow my feelings and finally end this story. It's not about me anylonger. It's about you. I want you all to be happy, especially you Sans. Please forgive me."
With those words you kissed his cheek. A last smile appeared on your lips.
Then you went to Asriel, grabbing his hand and dragging him toward the barrier. Thus Sans was not able to tell you his opinion to your actions. All he could do was shout after you. And somehow it was sweet how your voice rang through the castle.
Maybe it was the last thing you will hear – ever.
The Barrier was a strong magical force separating the Underground from the Surface. You could feel how the air vibrated around you. With small steps you approached the magical force, slowly breathing in and out.
Neither you nor Asriel made a sound. Only your hands and souls were speaking. Both of you could feel the same things because of the parts both of you shared.
And one SOUL after another appeared in front of you both feeling you with determination and nostalgia.
First one was a light blue soul. The feeling it gave you as your souls merged together was a familiar one to the time you fought against Paps. You had to stand still and wait till the attacks passed. This one was called Patience. You often needed it, mostly around Undyne who was a little hyper or even when you were waiting for Frisk to come home from kindergarten.
Then came the orange one. Bravery. How you wished to be brave and just walk head on no matter what the future hold. Right now you were at your peaks of bravery. Only a few steps separated you and Asriel from the Barrier. Asriel was a brave one. He's been to the other side once and was on his way to do it a second time.
Integrity, a deep blue. The color of the waterfalls, where you found an old tutu and some pair of ballet shoes. It was funny to feel carefree, but then reality hit you hard as Chara has awoken. But still, you jumped higher and higher as you went forwards, despite the gravity that pulled you down.
Also purple. This was the worst kind to take in. Perseverance. You could call it Karma if you like. After all it was the same after every attack of Sans as you HP went down with the time and your guilt grow at the same time. But also a feeling of being trapped like when you were fighting Muffet.
Green Kindness was the one to follow. Undyne. She was kindness herself. Even while fighting her she gave you a shield, since she wanted a fair fight. Kindness was the way you had to follow. It was the right path. Maybe Asriel will learn something about it later on.
You can't forget the yellow SOUL. Justice. Oh sweet justice. It was for the best that you found an empty gun, or else thing could run downhills from there.
And the last one. The seventh lost soul. A bright red, which felt exactly like your own soul. It was a weak, faint feeling from deep down in your chest, but it was still there. Charas soul. The soul that saved you and Asriel and maybe even every monster. Determination. The one and only feeling that helped you the most. Without determination you wouldn't stand here right now.
With a small nod from Asriel you knew that he was ready to cross the barrier. It was time to break it down.
"Thank you all for your help. Your Souls won't be lost from now on. I will take good care of them." you whispered, closed your eyes and passed the barrier, causing it to break and light flooded in making you close your eyes. Then you felt a breeze of the cold wind and felt freedom.
Shortly after you felt nothing. Only one word from Asriel reached your ears. Then you saw your whole life before your eyes: Every. Single. Timeline.
