It's been two weeks since fall break, and we're back in school. It was horrible going
back the first day, and I'm glad it's the weekend. I woke up to the sound of Leaf blasting
the tv, most likely doing her early morning yoga stretches. I groaned and rolled over in
my bed. I can't fall back asleep, her tv is way too loud! I groaned again and picked up
my phone. It's seven-thirty, I wanna die. I usually wake up at nine on the weekend. I got
out of bed and slammed Leaf's door shut. "Hey!" I heard her yell from inside her room.
I went downstairs to see if Mom was still home. I didn't see her in the kitchen or in the
living room so I went to her bedroom. Nope, she's back at work. I miss when we lived in
Alola and she was home all the time. I've only seen her a handful of times since we've
lived here. We used to go to the beach every weekend and swim and build sand castles
and eat malasadas in the mornings. I guess all things end. I exited out of Mom's dark
empty room and went to the kitchen. The kitchen was cleaned and spotless. Did Mom
clean the house on her day off? It looks like she only cleaned the kitchen, there's still a
stain on the rug in the living room. I felt guilt in my stomach. Mom does so much for us
and we take it for granted. She works her ass off at her job and still manages to do
everything for us. We don't notice it since she's always working. I'm gonna clean the
house today and maybe even some more.

I went into the attic and found my old stereo that I used to blast Panic! At The Disco
on. The cd was still in the disc holder. Haha, when I was a freshmen, I was obsessed
with them. I grabbed that and took it downstairs to the kitchen. I scanned the house
earlier and I decided that we need to completely redo the house. It's plain and boring.
All of the walls are white and has minimal furniture. I pulled out my phone and sent
Leaf a text.

"Leaf, I need you to go to the store and buy paint for the house. I wanna make the house
look beautiful for Mom."
"Finally! I've been dying to paint my room!"
"Pick out whatever color you want for your room, I want a beige color."
"What about Mom?"
"How about a light blue?"
"I can picture it in my head! I know just what to get!"
"Thanks Leafy."

Nice, Leafy is on board, now it's time to clean this entire house. I turned on the stereo
and put in my Fall Out Boy cd and began cleaning the living room. There was chips and
m'n'ms all under the couch and chair. This has Leaf written all over it. I swept up all the
food and hair that was under the furniture and mopped the floor. I dusted the coffee
table and side tables along with the tv stand. When I was finished with that room, I
went into Mom's room. Her room was basically clean. All that was wrong with it is that
it was dusty and needed to be vacuumed. I cleaned her bathroom along with her room. I
went into the kitchen vacuumed and mopped the floor. Mom was nice enough to clean
the counters and the appliances. It took me two hours to clean upstairs mostly due to
Leafy's room. She had clothes all over the place. I cleaned our bathroom and the spare
room. I haven't been in that room since we moved in. There was still all of our old crap
in there. Maybe I should turn it into a den or something.

"Red! We're back!" I heard Leaf shout from downstairs. We're? Who else is here? I
rushed downstairs to see the house filled with people. Leaf invited Lyra, Crystal, Silver,
Paul, and Green over to help paint. "Are y'all being forced to help?" I asked. "No! We
wanna help!" Crystal exclaimed. "I love decorating!" Lyra said. "We're only painting,
not decorating." Silver said to Lyra. "Don't ruin the fun Silver!" Lyra said while pointing
at him. Green had a huge smile on his face. "I just wanna help." He said. Paul didn't say
anything. He had a scowl on his face, but I knew he wasn't upset or annoyed. That's just
the way his face is. "Did you finish cleaning?" Leaf asked me. "I did, I even cleaned your
room." I explained. "Let's paint Mom's room!" She exclaimed. She picked up a can of
very light blue paint and led everyone into the room. I like the color that she picked
better than what I had imagined. The more I think about it, the Blue I picked would
have been too blue. Everyone picked up a roller or paint brush and directed everyone
what to paint. Green and Paul had the rollers since they were the tallest and the girls
did the corners of the room. Silver and I had to paint crown molding that Leaf wanted
to install. "How are you gonna get this in?" Silver asked. "I'll rent a nail gun and have
someone nail it in!" She exclaimed. That means that we we'll be doing it. It only took us
about forty minutes to paint the room with the seven of us helping. We went into her
bathroom and painted it light gray. It made the bathroom look huge.

After Mom's room was done, Leaf went to the hard ware store to rent a nail gun. We
painted the kitchen cream color while she was gone. It looked way better than just a
plain old white. When she returned, we painted the living room. She picked a light gray
with beige undertones. This is the biggest room in the house, so this will take longer.
We used the same method as before. When Silver and I finished with the crown
molding, we took the rollers and painted some of the walls. It took us longer, but we got
done around two. We painted the dining room a darker gray color, but not super dark.
Leaf said that she wants to put white curtains in the room to make it look bigger. We all
helped install the crown molding in the living and dining room, except for Leaf, she
made us all sandwiches. After we ate our late lunch, we headed upstairs. We painted the
hallway beige. That only took forty minutes as well, the upstairs isn't very big. We went
into my room next. "Instead of beige, I decided that your room will be this grayish
blueish color and the wall where your bed is will be navy blue!" She said excitedly. "I
hope it turns out good." I said while shaking my head. And it did turn out good. After
my room we did Leafy's room. She picked possibly the lightest pink I have ever seen in
my life. "My furniture is mostly black and white so I thought this would look nice." She
explained. Her room took the longest. She has a huge white desk that took up a lot of
one wall and has a giant, heavy mirror and another wall. Her room ended up looking
the best. It made her room look ten times bigger. We did our bathroom next. We
painted it the same color as Mom's room. "This is our extra room. We don't do anything
in here, so we need to completely redo it." Leaf explained. "Make it into a bedroom?"
Silver suggested. "Or a huge closet for you!" Crystal exclaimed. I rolled my eyes when
she said that. That's something Leaf would do. "How about a den? Put a tv right here,
place your couch right in front of it, maybe put in a mini fridge, make it a place to
hangout?" Green suggested. "Perfect!" Leaf shouted. "Let's paint it the same color as the
living room. I like that color a lot." I said. "Sounds good." She said. We hauled all of the
crap in that room into the attic. The attic is unfinished so we can't do anything in there.
We painted the room and Leaf asked Silver if he could paint something interesting on
the wall. Silver is an amazing artist. His house is filled with paintings that he's painted.
He nodded his head and started to outline instruments of all types in a design on the
wall. It took him a total of four hours to paint it. It looked like it should belong in a
museum. While Silver was painting the wall, we all went to the mall in Viridian City and
bought curtains, a recliner, a tv, and some other stuff. Leaf probably spent five hundred
dollars today on house decorations. Luckily my family is privileged to do stuff like this
whenever we want. We donate to charity all the time. I took my game systems out of my
room and put them in the den. It looked freaking amazing. Silver's painting made the
room though. He of course took a picture of it to put on his Instagram. He said it was
one of his best works yet.

We were finished with all of the painting and decorating in the house. I offered to
take everyone out to the diner to eat to thank them for helping with the house. We were
all starving, so they obliged. We walked to the diner that Leaf and I ate at when we first
got here. We we're covered in paint, the waitress that served us looked concerned. I
guess she though that we'd get paint everywhere. Good thing it dried hours ago. We
chowed down on our dinner and all went to our own houses. Green walked with us
since he lives next door. "I've never had so much fun painting a house. We painted our
house a few years ago and it was terrible. Blue and Gramps wouldn't help Daisy and I
and it took forever." He said with a chuckle. "That sounds awful!" Leaf shouted. "You
should have forced them to help." I said. "We tried, they wouldn't listen." He said with a
sigh. "Well, I'll see y'all later, bye." He said. He hugged each of us. We went inside and
watched a movie in the den. "I wish we did this a long time ago." Leaf said while collapsing on the couch. She immediately fell asleep. Poor thing must be worn out. I
pulled out a blanket for her and covered her up. I turned on Nickolodeon and watched
tv and until I heard Mom open the front door. I could hear her walking all around the
house due to her high heels. I heard her stop in each room to look at how different it is.
I got excited when I heard her stop at the den. She slowly opened the door and gasped.
"Red, Leaf, did you do all this." She said as she stared at the wall art. "We had some
help." I whispered. Mom looked at Leaf asleep on the couch and walked over to hug me.
"You both did amazing. I love the way the house looks, it looks like it belongs in a
magazine honestly. I love you." She said said while hugging me. "I love you too."
