"Let him out"

She bolts upright, gasping for air that won't come. After what seems like forever the gasping slows, her lungs filling with air. As she pulls the blanket around her, chills running up and down her spine. The voice replaying in her head like a broken record.

Clear as day yet raspy, as if coming from an elderly man. Angry, but with fear well hidden underneath.

This was not the first time she had heard voices. But never before had they terrified her so much.

The voices started out in her head. But as time passed, the voices began to change. Now they were talking to her.

Thoughts ran through her head.

Am I going crazy?

Am I losing my mind?

Why is this happening?

What's going on?

Make it stop.

I don't want to hear them anymore.

She's losing herself. A dark mist, slowly devouring her. They don't stop. Won't stop.

As she lies back down, she tries to clear her mind of the voices that have started once again.

With chills still running through her and the fear still there tenfold, she tries to get back to sleep.

Maybe then they will stop.
