The road was dimly lit by the street lights. There wasn't a single person out. It was chilly, you'd have to be doing something important to wanna walk around at 2 AM at -6°C.

Dan didn't worry about cars or anything where he was going so he kept this head down with his hands in his pockets and walked to the meeting point that his ex and him would always go to hide from his friends.

He looked up when he was just a few steps away from the spot and he saw Georgie walking from the other direction. His large and muscly stature couldn't be mistaken for anyone else.

"You came."

<Anything for you.>

Georgie pulled Dan into a tight hug. The much smaller boy wasn't exactly comfortable. His last interaction with Georgie was subpar and a little bit scary.

"Dan, you know I didn't mean the shit I said." Georgie said after pulling away from their embrace. Dan was a little relieved to be talking to someone who's signing was a lot better than Phil's. Although, Georgie did have a few years of an advantage.

<You scared me.> Remembering the small conversation made Dan shiver but at least he's clearly trying to take it back, right?

"Fuck, I'm sorry. But man Ryley's voice holy shit!" He said then started pulling a cigarette out of a box that seemed to appear out of nowhere then lit it and took a big puff.

<What, you're smoking now?> He signed worryingly

Georgie's signing with one hand somehow got better since the last time they spoke like this and he signed with his right while smoking with his left. His ambidextrous ass.

"Keeps me off the drugs."

They were silent before Georgie pulled another smoke out and handed it to Dan as some sort of peace offering. Dan just nodded and they stood at their spot near a storage center, smoking together in harmony.

<So, your parole working out?>

"Yah, can't thank you enough."

Dan chuckled <You owe me.>

Sometime later, they both dropped their smokes at somewhat the same time and stomped on them.

"You got a boyfriend?"

<I don't know, I might be interested in someone.>

Dan expected Georgie to get angry again but he just took a deep breath.

"Who is he?"

<Nobody. Just a guy called Phil. Don't think he's into me though so I don't know>

Dan looked away and could see his own breath from the cold.

<Man, you've really changed you know? A lot nicer than a day ago>

"Fuck off, I just don't wanna be the same jerk I was when I came by the café. I was so drunk."

<You were always a real dick after drinking.>

"Yeah, I figured that out when you sent me a video of my hammered ass yelling at you on new years."

<You doing any better with that?>

"Well you saw me the other day so what do you think? First few months are tough."

<Well you seem to be doing okay right now.>

Georgie reached for something in his pocket then took his hand out again without grabbing it.

"I had a reason for seeing you."
