she was tired; physically
and emotionally exhausted.
she'd always been terrified
of trains, even as a young
girl, fearing that she'd fall
off and lose her legs like in
all the movies. it had only
been a mere three hours,
and she was already re-
gretting her decision to
leave the town she'd long
ago escaped to. if only
i didn't feel guilty for
each moment i spend
away from my parents
and younger brother,
she thought, ducking her
head when she felt the tears
stinging her eyes. they always
seemed to come, no matter
how much she fought them
back.
