Liam’s POV

Call me crazy but I was wide awake staring at the screen of my cell phone. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face as I read the text that Elena had sent me for the hundredth time. She called me a cutie. Does that mean that she liked me back?

No Liam. Don’t get your hopes up high. She was just probably teasing you or something.

I was lost in my own thoughts but suddenly, I heard someone’s garbage can get knocked down. Followed by a scream? I don’t know but I think someone called me. I was still confused as hell until it dawned on me. Someone was screaming my name. It sounded like. Elena?

Instantly, I shot up from my seat. I wasn’t sure but it was better to be safe than sorry. I was only in my boxers but I didn’t care. I heard Elena’s voice calling me.

I ran out the door and down my block desperately trying to hear the source of noises.

Please let it be fake. Please let it be fake.

I heard a squeal and my name was called again but it was muffled. My heart raced. I felt sick. I knew where the noises were coming from. I ran down to the end of my block into the last driveway as fast as I can, hoping that it wasn’t too late. No one was living at the house since it was put on sale.

My fists clenched automatically when I saw Elena on the ground crying with a middle aged man on top of her, kissing her neck. He was holding a knife against her face. Her eyes widened as she saw me but I put my finger to my lips to tell her not to say anything. Quietly, I took quick and long steps to the person down the driveway and tackled him to the floor. I knocked him in the face successfully breaking his nose as I hear a crack when my fist collided with his nose.

Blood poured out of his nose but that didn’t stop him. He quickly got up and tried to cut me with the knife. Elena was sitting on the floor, hugging her legs, crying. I was glad that the man didn’t do something worse but I was still shaking with anger at the fact that Elena’s hoodie was on the floor, leaving her in only a tank top and shorts. That man touched her and that was enough to set me off.

I kept on punching him in the face repeatedly even when the bastard was about to fall unconscious. I was sure that his face was going to bruise like shit tomorrow. He deserved it and much worst. I was still in rage that he had touched my girl. I felt a light tug on my arm but I ignored it. I felt it again and I stopped and turned around to see Elena. I was so busy punching that pedophile that I forgot she was hurt.

I got off the man and enveloped her into a hug. I picked back up her hoodie from the floor and carried her bridal style back up the driveway. She dug her face in my chest and sobbed silently. It took me all I had to restrain myself from going back there to beat the man up, senseless. I turned around and told the man that if I ever saw him again, I would call the police. I wasn’t sure if he heard me since he was about to pass out any second now but that’s his problem. Elena said she didn’t want to report him and as much as I disagreed, I respected her decision.

Since it was a Saturday, my parents and Elena’s mom went out like usual. I was glad that they weren’t here right now. I wouldn’t know what to tell them.

I placed her down gently on my bed. Elena crawled over to me and I hugged her until all the tears stopped pouring out of her beautiful face.

I handed Elena a t-shirt and one of my shorts and she went to take a shower. I patiently waited for her to come out so I can comfort her some more.

When I heard her step out of the shower, I still had my fists clenched and breathed deeply. I was trying so hard to not be mad at Elena but I couldn’t control it. I knew she needed me now but I need to get this out of my system.
