*Ysa's pov...*

I walked towards the center of town with my notebook and pen in hand. I was ready to document the living condition of this place. I wonder if it is similar to my home since it is the neighboring planet. Could be......

My heart sank as I saw the poor people wandering the streets wearing clothes all tattered and torn. They were gathering in the center of town where a wooden platform stood. A few armed men stood upon it overlooking the crowd. One of them looked a little more superior to the rest.

"For too long now, the peace of this land was interrupted by the shenanigans of a group of men. I'm calling out to you now to show yourself so that you may be cleared of all previous crimes and escape punishment. Those who don't will be considered wanted criminals, and therefore, be given the severest punishment known to man: death." The superior officer announced, "So I ask you, step forward now, or be faced with the rope!"

The audience stayed silent. They just stared at the men in silence.

"Maybe this will persuade you. Bring him out!" the last one was a command to a few officers who brought a man to the platform. The man's hands were tied behind his back and he were obviously struggling.

"Your rebellious leader was found organizing another demonstration. You will confess now or watch him die!" a thick rope was tied around the man's neck as he said this.

The audience seemed a little more hesitant now.

"Any last words?" the superior officer asked the man with the rope on his neck.

"Yes, actually, I do." the man said, "Don't worry about me. This is all a trap! They'll kill you no matter what! So we have to be strong! We have to right the wrongs they are making! We have to stand tall and stay hidden! Whatever you do, do not use violence! It will only provoke them more. Stand tall and earn your freedom!"

"I've had enough of this nonsense! Are you going to confess or not!?" the superior officer shouted.

One young boy in his late teens to early 20's stepped forward out of the crowd.

"No! Don't do it lad!" the man with the rope said.

"Sir, I can't let you die! Not alone!" the young lad confessed, "He wasn't the one organizing last night............I was. I was the one organizing all the demonstrations. It's all me and me alone."

"Seize him. We need to take him in for further questions." the superior officer whispered to another. With a salute, the officer took the lad away.

"Anyone else?!" the superior officer shouted.

Everyone stayed silent. They knew nothing could be done.

"Kick it away!" the superior officer ordered.

"But sir-" the officer nearby stuttered.

"Kick it away before I take you into questioning!" The superior officer shouted, dipping into a low voice for the last part.

"Y-yes sir." the officer muttered as he kicked the stool from under the man and letting him dangle there.

I finally figured it out! They hanged him!
